Armored Space Pirate Militia are Pirate Militia that have been granted use of battle armor akin to that of the Armored Pirate Trooper.[1] The armor was first put into commission before the Phazon takeover of the Space Pirates prior to the events of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The armor is resistant to most Beam attacks, but can be ruptured with explosive attacks such as Missiles.[1] The Hyper Beam can do quick work of the Troopers as well. The armor cannot be pulled off with the Grapple Lasso, unlike the Space Pirate's portable shields, because the armor wraps around the entire subject's body. Armor is grated to the Militia as a reward for not achievement, but survival.[1]

Logbook[edit | edit source]

Logbook entry from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: Armored Pirate Militia
First Location: G.F.S. Olympus - Xenoresearch Lab
Members of the Armored Pirate Militia have been granted lightweight armorsuits for combat use. While this provides some additional resistance to Beam weapons, they are still vulnerable to explosive attacks. Members of the Armored Pirate Militia are mostly inept soldiers who have yet to die in combat.[1]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The armor that the Armored Pirate Militia wear is the same as the Armored Pirate Trooper's, and as a result is much larger than the nimble bodies of the Militia units.
  • In the NTSC version of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, there is an Armored Pirate Militia in the Concourse in Eastern SkyTown, Elysia that is classified as an "Armored Pirate" when scanned. Although it does not appear in the Logbook, scanning it does provide a unique entry, a character model, and even a red credit (which would bring the game's red credit total to 109 instead of the usual 108).[2]

  2. "This strange sighting occurs upon your first trip to the Concourse area in SkyTown East. As you enter the main chamber you'll be greeted by an Armored Pirate Trooper and a Pirate Militia, but the third target to appear is the one in question. It looks very much like an Armored Pirate Militia, but scanning it will reveal it as an "Armored Pirate". The Logbook entry is unique, and yet if you view the character model it looks very much like an Armored Pirate Trooper. However, the entry will not appear in the Logbook listing of Space Pirate creatures. Scanning this oddity also amazingly gives you a red credit, allowing you to tally up 109 (NTSC) / 110 (PAL) total credits instead of the usual 108 / 109."
