Parasite
Parasites are a species of interstellar vermin indigenous to Tallon IV.[1]

Morphology[edit | edit source]
Parasites walk on two legs, dragging their long tails behind them, and have five distinct green markings across their heads, probably eyes. Parasites are highly adaptive creatures, capable of developing resistances to alien environments within three generations.[2] This trait led the Space Pirates to conduct research on the creatures, exposing them to Phazon. The results of these experiments led to the Parasites becoming stronger and more aggressive. Most subjects were unable to survive the continual exposure to Phazon, and those that did became too violent, forcing the Pirate to euthanize them.[3]
Several Parasites are still aboard frigate Orpheon after it was abandoned in orbit around Tallon IV, mostly feeding on Space Pirate carcasses. Interestingly, though they are supposedly indigenous to Tallon IV, Samus does not encounter any during her exploration of the planet; she does encounter two variants, however, in rare instances.
A single Parasite is harmless to most lifeforms, however they tend to travel in swarms that can overtake most organisms.[1][4]

Parasite Queen[edit | edit source]

Large Parasite females that propagate the species. The location of these in the wild are unknown; however, multiple Phazon-mutated Queens are found aboard Frigate Orpheon.
Ice Parasite[edit | edit source]

Parasites adapted the the harsh cold of Phendrana Drifts.[2]
Plated Parasite[edit | edit source]

Parasites that have developed a hard outer shell that cannot be broken with most weaponry.[5]

Our initial tests exposing Tallon IV's indigenous Parasites to Phazon appears to be successful. Increases in size, strength and aggressiveness are common in all test subjects, as well as unforeseen evolutions like addition poison sacs within the abdomen and the appearance of a second ring on mandible in several subjects. These creatures were chosen because of their resilience, and it appears possible that, given enough exposure to Phazon, they many be able to survive on any planet we transport them to. Our methods will have to be refined; we currently have 100% extinction rate after the forth infusion period, and most survivors of the third infusion stage are so violent and uncontrollable that they have to be euthanized. Even still, we remain hopeful that further experimentation will result in success.[3]
