Randomness of mutations[edit source]

During my post-Omega Pirate travels through the depths of the Phazon Mines, I encountered many Fission Metroids, as much through my getting lost and forgetting which way I wanted to go as the fact that they were in more than half the rooms. I also ran out of Power Bombs, so every time I was in a situation where a fight was necessary, I fought the Metroids with just beams and Missiles. When fighting the Fission Metroids, they always split into two types of color pairs: Yellow/Red and Purple/White. Idk if the ones in the Impact Crater behave differently, as I pretty much ignored those I saw there. Has anyone else seen anything to confirm or deny this? We'd need pretty strong evidence to directly contradict the Logbook in our articles, so if there's like just one pair that doesn't match, it probably should stay out of the article. I'll test it some more, but I can say that they split into more than just yellow/red or purple/white (at least in the NTSC version). One of the Metroids I shot split into yellow and purple. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 05:43, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmm, I think I'll test it on my Trilogy version too, as I have a 100% save just outside the Artifact Temple. It may be a quirk unique to the PAL/Trilogy versions, which wouldn't be the first time I've seen something like that happen. Yeah it might be. I tested it out in more depth in mine (which was annoying once I ran out of Power Bombs) and there was no specific pattern to how they split. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 18:25, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
After going back and testing, the second group I ran into was all Yellow/White, so apparently that theory has bombed. It is apparently random, and if there's a pattern to anything, it's probably got more to do with a randomized sequence of colors determined upon entering the room, but that would require hours of testing to verify...
