Legend of Zelda[edit source]

Hey!! I noticed your recent edits to your userpage. I LOVE the Legend of Zelda too, it's my favorite series! I think my favorite games are probably Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask. Of the Metroid games, I like Metroid Prime/Metroid Prime 2: Echoes the best. I noticed you didn't list the Prime games - have you not played those yet? I highly recommend them if you haven't! =) I haven't played Other M, but I've read a lot about it. :P Embyr 75  --Talk-- 23:09, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi! I love the legend of Zelda to! I'm getting the new one for Christmas. My favorite series... Well I don't have one! I like Kirby, Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing and Metroid of course! Well I played Metroid Prime on my computer but I didn't PLAY if for reall. Someday I will buy Metroid Prime Trilogy so I can play all three of em. My favorite legend of Zelda game is.. Its a little bit hard but I do like Legend Of Zelda Majora Mask, skyward sword, A link to the past and Ocarina Of Time. But you definitely should play Metroid Other M, the story is AMAZING! But I'm not gonna tell you more about Metroid Other M. You have to find out yourself ;) But what do you like the most of Metroid? (By the way.. I'm not very good at editing so I though maybe you can help me a little bit?) --Robin Aran (talk) 14:46, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think what I like about Metroid is the complexity. The story is really deep and interesting, I love all the alien races and their unique worlds and cultures! Very cool. =) And I'd totally be happy to help you with your editing skills! The best place to start and learn the basics would be the Editing Help page. Other than that, I'd say just trying things out and asking questions is the best way to learn! And never be afraid to edit something, if it doesn't turn out right another editor can always fix it for you.
But hey, since you said you like to play Metroid games on the computer, you have the advantage of being able to take great screenshots! If you're using the Dolphin emulator, you can use the Free Look feature to take some really cool screenshots at unique angles (for example, I took this image from inside a wall). There's lots of pages needing images, so if that interests you, feel free to contribute that way too. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:45, 24 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree! I really think the Luminoth Lore of Alien races and Space Pirates is really interesting. Like when you scan something in the Phazon Mines in Metroid Prime, its really interesting to read. thanks for helping me! Well I edited some thing but I am afraid that it doesn't turn out. By the way its a really GOOD idea to do that! I will do it in the weekend or when I'm done with me homework! I barely can't wait! Still I want to make some pages that are missing, but I think I still need to learn some thing about it. Can you give me some tips or tell something about it? (By the way can you tell me how to redirect to? I tried it out but it didn't turn out very wel..) Thanks for helping me! --Robin Aran (talk) 17:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'd be happy to help! =) I'd say the Getting Started page has most of the info you need and would definitely recommend reading that first, if you haven't already. But as far as some basic tips for making a good page, here's a couple I came up with:
  • Usually a page will have an infobox. You can find a list of infoboxes we have here. For example, an article about a Room would have the room infobox on it, and an article about an enemy would have the creature infobox on it. If there doesn't seem to be an infobox that fits, you can make the page without one.
  • Try to find a nice image for your page. You can browse our Images by Game category to see if we have a good one. If we don't have an image that fits the topic, you can use the No Image file, or mark the page with the Images Needed template so someone can upload one for you.
  • When you write your content, try to use proper English grammar and punctuation. But don't worry, if there are mistakes, other editors will fix them. You should also Reference as many statements as possible. You can read about our Citation Policy if you like.
  • Last but not least, make sure to read over our Quality Standards. There is a list of minor details to keep in mind there, once you get used to editing.
I hope I haven't overloaded you! Remember, the important thing is to have fun! Don't worry about making mistakes, our Administrators patrol every single edit, and any mistakes can be fixed or undone. So just have a good time and try your best! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:51, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image Uploads[edit source]

Hey Robin! I saw the two images you uploaded, they look great!!! Here's a couple more tips for uploading images:

  • If you can, turn up the anti-aliasing on your emulator. That will make the edges of things look smooth. On my computer, turning up the anti-aliasing makes the game run REALLY slowly (I have an old laptop), so I play with the anti-aliasing turned off, and RIGHT before I take a picture I turn it on. Then I turn it off again! ^_^
  • When you upload images, put the Source Template in the summary box. This will categorize the image and give credit to you for taking the screenshot. For example, if the image is a Screenshot from the game Metroid Prime and the picture was taken by You, you can add this to the summary box:
 {{source
 |type=ss
 |game=mp1
 |screenshot=Robin Aran
 }}

This will categorize the image in Category:Metroid Prime Screenshots so other users can find it easily, and let the world know that the screenshot was taken by you! You can try adding it to the two images you already uploaded. (You can see what edits you've made here, and keep up with all the edits on the wiki on the Recent Changes).

Hope that helps! Other than that, keep up the great work!!! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 19:35, 25 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi! I tried to upload some pictures but how do you delete pictures? Because I tried to change it sometimes but I uploaded a lot of the same pictures. And when revert one its still the same so can you help me with it? (Its about the hyperbeam (Mother Brain) I'm trying to do my best! --Robin Aran (talk) 16:56, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hey there! Good tries, you're almost there! =) If you want to change any information in an image file, instead of uploading a new one, go to the file page and press the Edit button just like if you were going to edit an article. For example, you added the Source Template information (the stuff I showed you above) to the Research Lab Aether page, when it was supposed to go on the file:Research Lab Aether.png and file:Research Lab Aether2.png files. Try adding it again to those files, and your new one, too, which is file:Hyperbeam.jpeg. As far as deleting images, that can only be done by administrators. If you want us to delete a file, you can mark it with the ImDel Template or just ask one of us on our talk page. :) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 18:09, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ok, thanks! By the way how are you? I'm going to do my best this weekend! I hope I can add pictures like Save station A and I wanna make a page to! (Phendrana shorelines) But how can you link something to another Wiki like I tried to redirect Mario to the Mario-wiki so you would be redirected to his page. I tried it like this mariowiki:Mario By the way what do you think about the other games? (Games like Pokémon, Mario Kirby etc,) --Robin Aran (talk) 15:02, 27 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You can link to other wikis like you did earlier, just as long as they are on the interwiki table they will work :). But for a better looking link, you should pipe the link (|<text>). So [[mariowiki:Mario|Mario]] will appear as Mario. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 19:49, 28 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

OK Thanks! I'm going to try it out. Kirby yay! Thanks! Now I can link the games I have on my User Page. Thanks!
