Properties

Properties[edit | edit source]

Since it combines the energies of the Light Beam and the Dark Beam, the Annihilator Beam is effective against enemies from either Light or Dark worlds. It has a rapid rate of fire, but it is slightly slower than that of the Power Beam. Regular shots will home in on enemies, making it effective against fast foes. The charged Annihilator Beam, known as the Disruptor,[1] fires a blast that does not home in on enemies, but similar to the charged Wave Beam, is capable of stunning enemies. It is also the only weapon capable of destroying Lightbringers.[2]

Due to its hybrid nature, the Annihilator Beam can open portals to both Aether and Dark Aether. It can overload shields with either light or dark polarities, as well as unique gray shields only vulnerable to its own fire. It also can supercharge Light Crystals into Super Crystals that attract Ing to their death. Used in conjunction with the Echo Visor, Samus can deactivate certain sonic devices, such as Echo Key Beam Systems.

The Luminoth champion A-Kul used the Annihilator Beam, but it was obtained by the Ing after her death.[3] It is also the primary weapon used by Quadraxis, who is capable of firing both normal shots and Disruptor blasts. Samus obtains the Annihilator Beam after she destroys Quadraxis.

Samus's Notes[edit | edit source]

"When out of Light and Dark Ammo, you can charge the Annihilator Beam to fire a normal shot. The Annihilator Beam has a high-powered sonic aspect when fired, which can be used to manipulate sonic-powered devices. Annihilator Beam shots are very effective against both light and dark enemies. Charge the Annihilator Beam to fire a Disruptor blast. The Disruptor costs 5 Dark Ammo and 5 Light Ammo to fire."[1]
