Like most series from Nintendo, Metroid has had minor cameos in several games. The most prominent being the Super Smash Bros. titles, but no documentation of the series is complete without a thorough listing of all others.

Tetris Series

Samus and other Nintendo characters in the NES Tetris

NES Tetris

The NES version of Tetris, many Nintendo characters make a brief cameo in a hidden ending, including Samus holding a cello.

Tetris DS

Tetris DS cameo

Tetris DS features an entire gameplay mode dedicated to Metroid. Catch Mode deviates from the standard Tetris play by employing a smaller field of tetriminos. The objective is to build a 4x4 square which will self detonate. All the while gameplay from the original NES Metroid title will automatically play on screen.

Galactic Pinball

Samus was in one level of Galactic Pinball. This marks Samus's first appearance in a pinball game, and only appearance in a Virtual Boy game. In Galactic Pinball, Samus's Gunship to shoot Metroids.

Kirby series

The Kirby series, developed by HAL has been ripe with Metroid cameos. In Kirby: Super Star, Kirby is able to collect a treasure called the Screw Attack, which appears as the stylized S symbol; and one of his "Stone" attack formations manifests to a statue of Samus Aran. In Kirby's Dream Land 3, Samus tasks Kirby to kill Metroids with the "Ice" Attack.

Super Smash Bros. Series

Samus is a playable character throughout the Super Smash Bros. series. Since the Super Smash Bros. debut, Samus has been a starting character in the series. Many trophies relating to the Metroid series can be unlocked. An assist trophy in Brawl has a chance of releasing a Metroid that drains the energy of foes. Also in Brawl, a new character, Zero Suit Samus can be unlocked and used as a character.
