Dark Splinters are Ing-possessed Splinters. They are responsible for the deaths of much of the crew of the G.F.S. Tyr.

Properties[edit | edit source]

Dark Splinters are very aggressive and use the same ramming attack methods used by regular Splinters, but their strength and durability are augmented by the presence of the Ing symbiote. Samus encounters them in the Temple Grounds, the Great Temple, and Dark Agon Wastes. Samus first witnesses their destructive power in a visual record left behind by the deceased Captain A. Exeter of the GFMC Task Force Herakles. In it, much of the Bravo Squadron are shown being overrun by their superior numbers and slaughtered. Shortly thereafter, Samus is attacked by a group of four Dark Splinters just after acquiring a Missile Launcher.

Samus encounters Dark Splinters several times while exploring the Temple Grounds, and even battles a darkling Alpha Splinter in the Great Temple.
