Federation Solar System

From Metroid Wiki

The Federation Solar System is located in the Kalandor Region, in the periphery of Federation Space. In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Samus visits three planets in the system. The three planets play a significant role for the Federation. Dark Samus led the Space Pirates and used Leviathans to attack these Federation planets to strategically destroy critical bases of the Federation's military.[1]

The System and the Federation[edit | edit source]

Norion[edit | edit source]

The Federation has established a military base on the planet Norion. Formerly a barren and inhospitable orb, the planet was terraformed by Aurora Unit 486 to enable humans life. Galactic Federation military was stationed on the planet, making it a strong military base, it's first line of defense in fact.[2] Dark Samus sought to take out the Federation's line of defense, but her efforts war thwarted by Samus and the other three hunters.

Bryyo[edit | edit source]

Bryyo is the largest known source of Fuel Gel, which is used to power most spacecrafts used by the Federation. Twenty years prior to the events or Corruption, piracy had become so common that the Federation was forced to establish a base in the system and take Bryyo into its custody.[3] Dark Samus attacked Bryyo with the hope that the Federation's fuel supply would be corrupted. Samus stopped the effort, however, destroying Bryyo's Leviathan.

Elysia[edit | edit source]

The planet Elysia served as an outpost of the Chozo civilization, a member of the Federation. At the time of Corruption, the civilization had long ago vanished. The Chozo had built many sentient robots named Elysians. On SkyTown there rests a large observatory used by the Chozo to gain information on various parts of the universe. The Galactic Federation, in turn, uses the observatory to gain information as well, even on the Space Pirate Homeworld. Dark Samus hoped to remove the Federation's intelligence by destroying Elysia. Samus stopped her by destroying that Leviathan as well.

  1. "The time has come, our leader commands. We go to war at last! Three worlds will be attacked, each important to the Federation. We shall destroy the spy base at Elysia, the fuel production of Bryyo, and the naval station at Norion. Each of those wretched worlds will become as Phaaze...each a foothold into the territory of the hated Federation. From those worlds, our vanguard will go forth. At long last, our enemies will be humbled, then enslaved. Three Phazon Seeds will be sent, and an armada will accompany each of them. Dark Samus herself will lead the attack on Norion. Victory is ours for the taking!" —Space Pirate Data "Vanguard" (Metroid Prime 3: Corruption)
  2. "Though located on the fringe of the Federation, the planet Norion is of great importance. The military maintains a strong presence in this sector, and the base on Norion is often the first line of defense against enemies that operate outside of GF space.
Originally a barren orb incapable of sustaining life, a sophisticated terraforming project designed by Aurora Unit 486 has turned Norion into a hardy forest world.

  3. "Federation scouts discovered the planet Bryyo ten years ago. The planet’s alignment makes most of its surface uninhabitable; 48% of the world is always exposed to the sun, with another 48% shrouded in permanent night. The remaining 4% lies in an equatorial ring of fertile jungle, where the bulk of Bryyo’s bioforms dwell.
Fuel Gel is common on Bryyo, which makes it extremely important to the Federation. The local bioforms are quite primitive, though there are ruins that indicate an advanced culture thrived on Bryyo in centuries past.
