Metroid 64 would have been a Metroid game for the Nintendo 64. It was revealed in an IGN interview Nintendo that they were unable to come up with any ideas for the game.[1] Instead of a game being released on the Nintendo 64, the next Metroid game, Metroid Prime, was released for the GameCube.

Even through the entire Nintendo 64 period we were thinking of ways to produce a new Metroid title. We couldn't come up with any concrete ideas or vehicle at that time."
