The Stinglarva is the Bounty Hunter Kanden's alternate form. It was bioengineered from genetic material gathered from deadly predatory insects, and when utilized by Kanden transforms him into a quick, segmented insect. This ability was undoubtedly added to Kanden while he was experimented upon in an attempt to augment his super-soldier prowess.

Logbook entry from a Metroid Prime game: Stinglarva

Bioengineered with genetic material from the galaxy's most dangerous predatory insects, Kanden can transform into the Stinglarva. This fast-moving segmented insect has a detachable regenerating tail that homes in on its target before exploding.
