IPs editing?[edit source]

For the longest time, the main page has said that this is a Metroid wiki that "anyone can edit." But everytime I've tried to edit as an IP, it says only users can edit. One of these two things should be changed. JamesHeart123 (talk) 04:18, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

IPs used to be able to edit but spambots can become unbearable. I liked it better when IPs could edit as well. I can't change whether or not IPs can edit but i can change the text, what should I change it to? Nothing comes to mind, maybe we can redirect it to the log in screen --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 05:03, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Anyone still can edit. Anyone can make an account. It's free and easy, and saying "Anyone with an account can edit" sounds pretty bumbling to me. I know it would be better if IPs could still edit, but the spam is unbearable. Saying anyone can edit is not misleading. Sorry if I'm coming across a little bit unsympathetic, but how hard is it to make an account? =\ I think the redirect idea is great. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 23:38, 4 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I support allowing IPs to edit, however every single time we've allowed it, spam spikes up which leads to us forbidding it again. I really hate having to forbid it again and again due to a few spammers ruining it for everyone. I think we could try allowing it again, if the spam stays at a tolerable level or nonexistent we can leave it be. MK  03:14, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We could add as many filters and blocks as we can find for spam, but it always seems to find a way. I'm team IP! --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 11:08, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
StrategyWiki doesn't get hit too badly with spam. I'd suggest taking a look at some of those blacklists and copy them here. If you're ready to have IP editing re-enabled, leave a message on my talk page (or skype) and I'll take care of it. -- Prod (talk) 03:12, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've reenabled it for the time being, hopefully spam will be low :). MK  23:34, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Donut Plains[edit source]

I've noticed that our affiliate Donut Plains has gone offline and the domain registration has expire, has anyone heard from them concerning this? MK  03:19, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was the one that responded to them but I lost the email I used a long time ago. It was a small website, so I'm assuming it just went offline. Also, nice to see you around :D --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 11:08, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I saved the email address but unfortunately it is a @donutplains.net address. With it offline, it don't think we have any way to get into contact with them :( I'll try to . and nice to see you too :).MK  01:22, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just checked on Archive.com. seems they've been out of commission for almost a year now , I'll remove them from the sidebar and main page template. MK  01:41, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Random Tabbed Templates?[edit source]

Just a thought: We currently use a Tabbed Template for our Featured Articles and Featured Pictures. The latest Tabs are toggled to display by default. Is there a way to set the default displayed Tab to be a random tab? I'm getting a little sick of seeing Quadraxis down there everyday. =\ We get the best of both worlds that way: a random feature on the page per visit, and the ability to toggle through features. Thoughts on pros/cons of this idea and plausibility? Embyr 75  --Talk-- 00:34, 25 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Editor Station[edit source]

Until we implement a permanent solution for the Remember Me? section (as currently being discussed at the Discussion Center), I want to suggest turning that area into, basically, a "To-Do List" with links to important categories, like Stubs, Inadequate Images, Articles Lacking Images, etc. It'd be a place to make editors aware of current projects and give them access to things that need doing on the front page. If no one objects I'll throw something together in the next couple days. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 05:07, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Not a bad idea, sounds good to me. MK  15:25, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I created something and threw it up there, but I don't know how to create a new class so that I can have a semi-transparent image behind the content like the other boxes do. I was thinking of either this mp2 one or this Chozo one, or we could upload an entirely new image. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 00:59, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Purple info backrounds[edit source]

Hello! I wanted to request changing the infobox backrounds on pages to a lighter color, because it is extremely hard to read the black lettering on the dark purple box.

Thanks! Yeetomatic (talk) 18:15, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Do you have a suggested colour? -- Prod (talk) 19:42, 29 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Maybe like a light yellowy orange, like the color of Samus’s regular beam in the beginning of Super Metroid.

Yeetomatic (talk) 22:08, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Which page are you looking at? Text should be green, not black. -- Prod (talk) 03:07, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

All pages Чεετοматιс (talk) 11:34, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ohhhhh. Its only black on mobile. Its green on comp. Чεετοматιс (talk) 13:37, 14 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh, that makes more sense! I'll take a look. Prod (talk) 14:48, 14 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
All the styles in templates seem to be hard-coded. It's a lot of work to clean all of this up. I'll see if I can do some basic fixes, but it's going to be a lot of work before the mobile side looks as good as the desktop. Prod (talk) 15:05, 14 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
User:Yeetomatic I've made some changes to one of the templates. How does this page look? If it's good, I'll make the changes to another set of templates. Prod (talk) 01:53, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've updated all the infobox style templates now. Please let me know if there's any other pages that don't look right on mobile! Prod (talk) 23:39, 16 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oop! All fixed now. Thank you! Looks remarkable and no longer nigh on impossible to read. Thanks for the help!

Чεετοматιс (talk) 13:29, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No problem! I got the most important parts. There's a lot more I could do, but I would be here all day :P. If there's any major ones you see please let me know. You can also find me on discord if you want. </nowiki> Prod (talk) 17:05, 19 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi sorry to bring up a seemingly resolved issue, but the info boxes are still black on dark purple for me on mobile. The problem is especially visible on the Energy Tank page in the locations section.

PesterJester (talk) 12:59, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If you're having the issue, it's not resolved. Looks like that page is fully custom colouring. I'll take a look this week. Thanks for pointing it out! -- Prod (talk) 02:45, 18 October 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Metroid Dread and Samus Returns[edit source]

Why doesn't this Wiki have more content about Samus Returns and Dread Thegameandwatch (talk) 13:43, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No one has written it unfortunately. Prod (talk) 13:47, 22 October 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Main page background[edit source]

Set background-attachment: fixed;

for each <body> background and div#globalWrapper

It will have a nice effect when scrolling. 197.205.153.176 17:10, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I think it's interesting, but the colourful background could make the contrast on some pages a bit harder to see. Prod (talk) 19:34, 20 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
ok I think you are right 41.107.96.81 16:19, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
