Training Drones are small, metallic cylinders which are used to train recruits. These drones are designed to improve coordination and accuracy of troopers. They appear in only one location in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. They appear in Docking Bay 5 of the G.F.S. Olympus. Here, somewhat of a minigame can be played. The object of the game is to juggle one or two Training Drones using the Power Beam as much as possible. A screen is placed on the ground for the shooter to view his or her score, the number of consecutive shots on a drone without letting a drone be destroyed on the ground. If Samus reaches a score of ten or above, she obtains a Gold Credit. If she reaches a score of at least twenty, Samus receives a Friend Voucher.

Logbook

Logbook entry from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption: Training Drone
The Training Drone is used in all branches of the GF military. They are designed to improve hand-eye coordination and accuracy. One popular training exercise is to score as many consecutive hits on a drone as possible. Gambling on shooting contests involving Training Drones is frowned upon, but fairly popular throughout the GF armed forces.[1]

Trivia

  • Interestingly, although the Training Drones remain unscratched after a limitless amount of Power Beam shots and Charged shots, they are destroyed once they hit the ground regardless of how small a fall is.
