Uses

Decode alien languages

The Translator Module is the piece of equipment Samus uses to decode alien languages. Most often it is used to translate lore left behind by species, or procure information from Space Pirate consoles.

Appearances

Metroid Prime

In Metroid Prime, though not mentioned specifically, the Translator Module is undoubtedly the piece of equipment Samus uses to decode the Chozo runes and lore she finds on Tallon IV. Its capacity to translate Chozo is limited, however.[1] She also uses this module to translate Pirate Data.

Metroid Prime Hunters

In Metroid Prime Hunters, the Translator Module is incapable of translating the Alimbic language.[2][3] Instead, Samus accesses their lore using Alimbic Datashades, which were designed to transmit telepathic data and be compatible with most scan systems.[4]

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

In Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the Translator Module is, at first, incapable of translating the different Luminoth holograms representing words in their language found on Aether.[5] The Sentinel of Aether, U-Mos, upgrades her Translator Module to read Violet holograms,[6] and then the holographic projections of the Sentinels I-Sha, A-Voq, and O-Lir grant her the ability to translate Amber,[7] Emerald,[8] and Cobalt holograms,[9] respectively.

Interestingly enough, Samus's Translator Module does not have to be upgraded for her to download information from Luminoth Datapacs. She also uses the module to translate Space Pirate Logs.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Samus undoubtedly uses the Translator Module to translate downloaded Bryyonian Data and Skytown Data. She also uses it to translate Space Pirate Data.
