Wow[edit source]

For being new at this, you're pretty good at editing here. Thanks! There is something though, [[|File:Kago]]. It does not break any law, and there wasn't much of a way for you to know, but Metroid Database does not like their images used anywhere else (see point three on that link). Again, it's not illegal for us to do so, but we like to respect that they don't want their graphics used. Don't worry about that image, I'll replace it soon with a much better one :p Keep up the good work, you're well on your way to win something. Keep up the good work! --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 01:19, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oops. Guess I deleted the image, It was the Kago image, and it had a little "MDb" watermark on it. I'm the one that takes care of images around here, so yeah, I can get picky with images, your uploads are much better then the norm though, so don't worry bout that :p --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 06:49, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for letting me know, I am still new at this and am still getting the hang of things. I will avoid doing that again.- unsigned comment from Nintendbob (talkcontribs)
It's alright, I didn't find out until yesterday myself lol, good thing I never used those images anyways. And you really don't look new to wikis, even the simplest wikicode like simple links or file links like this take many users weeks to understand --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 14:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No subtext there, right... :P ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 01:03, 2 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And don't forget to sign your talk posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~ :) Embyr 75 19:39, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, all i have been doing is viewing a similer page and then just replacing what they had for that article with the relevant info --Nintendbob 20:52, 13 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Game names[edit source]

When referring to a game, italicize it's name using two surrounding apostrophes (').

''Metroid'' Metroid

It's better than writing simply Metroid. It works when linking as well

''[[Super Metroid]]'' Super Metroid

A little bar above the edit box helps italicize, bold, and other functions.--Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 17:54, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No problem --Nintendbob 18:43, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Logbook[edit source]

Hey Nintendbob, I'm really liking your edits so far. I'm working on a logbook for Corruption, and it can be viewed here. It'd be great if things can be consistent, and the only thing you would have to change is the layout. now I haven't played Hunters, so I wouldn't know if the logbook is different in some way, but let me know the progress. Thanks! - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 8:43, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I originally was using your format for the Prime 3 logbook, but I do not remember where each scan was obtained, and the only limited scans are the eight boss battles. I figured I would just put up the entries themselves, then if I later found their locations online somewhere I could put them in. --Nintendbob 11:43, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, it'd be a good idea to look at our affiliates and suggested sites in our sidebar <--- for that kind of information. ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 21:15, 4 January 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Looks like Metroid Recon has a guide for it, but it has only the name of the room. Should I still put in the boxes for notes and limited scan, because there isnt gonna be anything in those since there are only a few limited scans. I will put them in if I really should, but it seems like they would just take up space. --Nintendbob 23:00, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That would be for creature scans and such. I suggest that the page you're working on be moved to "Alimbic Lore" or something like that, because Lore all have their own pages. The Hunters Logbook will feature everything that isn't lore. Kinda confusing :/ but I'll run you through it. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 00:11, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As long as you reallize that the game considers it as part of the logbook. I could also just have a differant table for ecah section, allowing the differant colums. For now I will continue with the lore where it is until I get to the creatures.
Ummm hey, you know not everything is a minor edit right haha. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 03:59, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Since there was gonna be a bunch of edits to the one page, because i didnt want to lose my work accidentally, i just made em all minor. I guess i wont now.--Nintendbob 12:03, 9 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hunters Logbook[edit source]

VERY nice job! I am impressed! I'll be cleaning up the table coding and it should look much nicer there, our first complete logbook, good job! --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 02:20, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Seriously!!! Looks great! Awesome job. :) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 02:31, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, I think I am going to start working on the other logbooks as well. I am just glad that I am able to help out. --Nintendbob 11:41, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You are a great help, a very good editor indeed :] --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 01:06, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks, it seems like there is never anyone doing edits but you admins and I, so coming from you that means a lot. --Nintendbob 01:14, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Embyr's not an admin :] And generally, people that edit here edit a couple times with really bad edits then leave. Its nice to get more dedicated and productive editors like yourself. Not to mention cooperative. There are more editors, just none are nearly as active as the admins --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 05:37, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry for forgeting about you Embyr. --Nintendbob 09:58, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I AM SO OFFENDED!!!! .... =P Embyr 75  --Talk-- 20:26, 12 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

2 questions[edit source]

1. Did you confuse 242 (G.F.S. Olympus) for 217 (SkyTown)? Or did 242 get injected as well? And Question 2. Metroid Prime Hunters Logbook#Bioforms, for the Psycho Bit v4.0 entry, is it a limited scan? Idk, you left it blank, and it looks like a mistake. But i could be wrong and haven't played Hunters, so if you'd be kind enough to fill that in :] --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 04:48, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh and by the way, congrats on creating Metroid Wiki's physically longest page, though it may be surpassed by another of the Prime series' logbook --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 05:18, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't remember the exact wording of it, but I do remember that on the Olympus they said how the Aurora Unit network was down due to the virus, and they developed a vaccine that worked for 242, I might be remembering it wrong though. As for the Psycho Bit, that was just my bad, i accidentally skipped over that part. --Nintendbob 11:43, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Quick Request[edit source]

I'm working on the Echoes Logbook right now, so please do not create the page. Also if you were working on the Prime 1 Logbook while I was making the corrections and you got an edit conflict, sorry about that. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 19:29, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I havent gotten any conflict stuff, but will it hurt anything if I start to fill in Prime 1 stuff? I will avoid echoes for now. --Nintendbob 19:57, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK that's good, hate it when the edit conflicts happen. Go ahead and start filling it out, also which version of Prime are you using for the data? MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 20:00, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I am gonna be copying from the trilogy version, but the Space Pirate data and Chozo Lore are already here, with the game distinctions, so i will include ones from both games. I don't think the Creature, Research, or Artifacts have changed, so It should have all versions of the entries. --Nintendbob 20:11, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nope only some of the Pirate Data and Chozo Lore was changed. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 20:16, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sounds good then. --Nintendbob 20:25, 14 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Images[edit source]

There is one thing you need to do when you are uploading images, add {{copyright}} to them. Also while it's not policy but does help when looking for images, can you add some of our other image templates, it makes searching for images a lot easier than going through the file list and looking at them one by one. And thanks for working on our Hunters articles, so nice having less stubs or wanted pages for that game. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 19:59, 21 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sure thing, I know the hunters images are very low quality, but what do you expect from a handheld system. I will be sure to include the copyright stuff. --Nintendbob 01:52, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright thanks, and small notice ahead of time, if you do use some of those other image templates, you don't need to put the copyright template on the page cause the licensing is already included. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 02:07, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image Size[edit source]

If it's possible, will you upload images that are a little bit bigger than the most recent ones you've uploaded? MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 21:05, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Those images are the icons for the stage on stage select. I could try to go to the actual area and find a spot to take a picture but they might not be as good. --Nintendbob 21:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright, the icons still aren't a bad idea to have, so if you do get a screenshot of the area, notify me or another admin so we can move them to something like File:Alinos Perch Icon.jpg cause they still are usable. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 21:19, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Will do, i will put them under icon in the fist place. I am gonna make very generic articles for them all, then go through and make very detailed ones at a later date. --Nintendbob 21:22, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Spelling[edit source]

One of our articles may have a spelling errors in its name (I saw this on another wiki but I'd prefer if we do our own homework). The page name is Phyrigis (and Phyrigisian by extension), but in the logbook entry used for references it is spelled Phrygis, if you get the chance will you check Trilogy to see which one is correct? MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 09:48, 6 February 2011 (EST)

Yeah, it is Phrygis. I had taken it from the Rundas page and didnt check the actual game. I just checked the real entry and it is Phrygis. --Nintendbob 13:45, 6 February 2011 (EST)

Vehicle-infobox[edit source]

I get it now I think, but just for clarification. You are saying that if the vehicle is a boss, the boss infobox template would be used, ergo having a boss-related section on the vehicle template is unnecessary. Correct? Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 20:57, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes. The Vehicle infobox is intended for vehicles that don't serve another purpose. You can only have one infobox on a page, and if that vehicle was also a boss, it would use the boss one. The text i got rid of was probably accidently left there after someone created the vehicle infobox by cutting and pasting the boss one, and then modifying it. They simply forgot to change that part. --Nintendbob 21:05, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

FYI[edit source]

It is a violation of our quality standards to create articles as stubs. You can either write an article of sufficient length that can be modified later, or you can create a sub-page for works in progress. Thanks and keep contributing. Metroid4Ever 06:58, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Huh, I never realized that. Sorry, just wanted to get up to 1000 articles. --Nintendbob 09:56, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, 1000 articles is a nice goal and all, but article boosting isn't acceptable. It's hard to brag about having 1000 articles if a bunch of them are one or two lines. And that part of the quality standards really should be revised. It was placed there after a large-scale vandal attack where the vandal would create articles on the wanted pages list. So our users decided to create them first simply by placing something like:
"{{stub}}
Missile is a weapon."
Creating articles that are stubs is okay, so long as they are acceptable stubs. It's difficult to define an "acceptable stub", but there is a big difference between one-line article-boosting pages and actually starting a page but being unable to provide sufficient information. Most of your articles are alright, Nintendbob, but some are one-line article boosters. You did manage to raise our article count significantly though, props, lol. Rather than deleting some, maybe we could try expanding? Oh btw M4E, the delete template is placed as the very first line of the page, you don't have to delete what was previously there. I haven't seen that delete template in a while lol --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 16:29, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Moving pages[edit source]

That's weird, lol, I don't think regular users should be able to move pages. In any case, those were good moves, but it's weird that you can move them --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 22:44, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Nevamind, I just checked and it seems all autoconfirmed users can move pages, which you are --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 22:45, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, I've never moved pages before but the option to has always been there. --Nintendbob 10:47, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

MP3 Rooms[edit source]

Since you've been doing rooms from the Prime series (and doing very well at it, I might add), it would make sense that you'd move on to Prime 3 rooms after you're done with Prime 2. Are you planning on doing Prime 3 rooms and if so, would you message me when you're almost ready to move on to them? I can create a Rooms-nav for MP3 shortly before you start so it's ready when you create those pages, but I have other projects I've been working on, so I'd rather not do it until it becomes helpful. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 12:29, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I intend to start on the MP3 rooms as soon as I finish the MP2 rooms, whenever that might be. I might even do the Hunters rooms after, I'll need to see how I feel after MP3. If you could make a nav for the rooms that would be great. --Nintendbob 12:37, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'll get on a nav when you reach the Sanctuary rooms then. Have fun. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 19:49, 22 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh I will, but only because you said to. --Nintendbob 01:10, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The nav is finished and awaits your convenience. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 11:59, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks, I really appreciate the work it must have taken. I haven't been as active as I was since school started, but I plan on being a lot more active in a week or two once some stuff I have going on dies down. --Nintendbob 19:52, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It was fun, and no problem. I understand, real life can be really busy sometimes. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 00:28, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
