Search Box Problem

The background of the search box is white. The text is also white. May you please fix that or have someone else fix it? DoctorPain99 00:30, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm using Safari 4.1.3, and yes, the search box on the left. DoctorPain99 00:43, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sorry my reply is so late. It still is white. Also, when I set the skin to Monobook or Vector, I don't have this problem. DoctorPain99 03:58, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Still not working. I appreciate the effort, though. Maybe I just need a better internet browser. :P DoctorPain99 18:06, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, Safari is pretty much "special". >_> The text is still white. What's weird is my iPod Touch, which also has Safari, does show the search box in black. I believe the culprit must be older versions of Safari. DoctorPain99 18:55, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Random tags/praser function

Metroid Wiki says it wants this. It looks interesting and would help specifically with a gallery template I'll be making soon, do ya mind installing it? That reminds me, we still have to rename the Gallery pages to something... --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 05:24, 7 July 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey, I need to inform you all of something

I was looking around the site earlier and found that someone named TROLOLOL messed up a lot of pages. I went in a redid them, but I don't know if you all do anything when someone vandalizes dozen of pages. You can see all revisions I fixed on my contributions page, but also, here's a link to a Screenshot that has them all from his contributions page. I put this on all the admins pages so someone sees it., I don't know how often you all are online, so yeah... anyway, here you go, here's the link: http://awesomescreenshot.com/014h8842a

Wow.

Let me just say, I had been using Wikitroid (the Wikia Metroid wiki) for information until I found this website. At first I thought you guys might be a cheap rip-of or something, but no. This wiki is better in every way than the Metroid wiki. Wow. Everyone who contributes here should give themselves a pat on the back. Wow. Galvartes 14:38, 3 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yes! Collective thanks! Metroid Wiki's still relatively new, so it'll only get better, that's for sure :] --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 05:30, 4 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Beta site image

Could you please place this as the beta site's logo when you get the chance. I want to see how it would look as our new logo :). MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 18:45, 29 December 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Talk:Credits Metroid

Hi I'm Galvartes, and will be helping out more often around here. I tried to create a discussion on the page listed above, and it said it was blacklisted? I wanted to start up a discussion to see if the page could simply be merged with the game article. Thanks! Galvartes 21:05, 3 April 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks. Galvartes 20:58, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello this is IceBlue from Icaruspedia

So the wiki has requested an affiliation with your wiki as seen here. We believe since we joined NIWA as of March of this year that we should affiliate. An admin of our wiki has agreed on it so all we need is your approval. Thanks! IceBlue (talk) 06:28, 20 July 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Upload Wizard

Hey there! I was wondering what sort of customizations are available for the Upload Wizard. Currently, we can't add our Source Template to uploads and are forced to use standard Copyright templates. *Shudders in Horror.* So I've been avoiding it like the plague, since uploading a ton of images would currently require going back and recategorizing every file manually, and if I have to do that I might as well upload them individually with the proper templates.

However, I just got access to a truckload of images and was hoping I'd be able to upload them all at once. I've read online that the Upload Wizard can be customized, but honestly it's beyond my content-side understanding. Are these kinds of changes plausible? Embyr 75  --Talk-- 16:20, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

From the NIWA Staff chat:
In LocalSettings.php,
$wgUploadWizardConfig[ 'licenseCategory' ] = 'Image Templates';
will make it select the templates from http://www.metroidwiki.org/wiki/Category:Image_Templates
Can you implement this? Thanks! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 18:21, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So I finally noticed that you made this edit, but it doesn't seem to solve the problem, unless I'm using the Wizard incorrectly. Notice the following error message. And besides, doesn't the section for Source and Author generate templates that we'll have to go back and remove anyway, unless I'm utterly mistaken, meaning we'll still need to edit all the files manually after uploading them? Embyr 75  --Talk-- 19:59, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yea, it mentioned that here. But it said what I added it to is the default. I'll dig a bit further into it. -- Prod (talk) 20:28, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright, thanks for all your hard work! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 20:50, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sidebar functions

Hey there, just a thought: I was thinking we could add links to our youtube and facebook pages to the sidebar - not everyone visits the Main page if they're coming from google and it might increase overall traffic. Anyways, there's an extension that allows for images in the sidebar, so we could put the Facebook, Youtube, and probably NIWA Icons from the community bar on the bottom of the sidebar. What do you think? (Also, bumping the uploadwizard discussion. How's it lookin'?) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 23:13, 13 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's up to you guys what you add to the sidebar, so feel free to edit it. As for icons, I think it's possible to do that through css instead of needing a whole extension for it, similar to the way we handle favicons in the NIWA template. -- Prod (talk) 07:24, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Asterisk fix in infoboxes

Hey Prod! As you may recall, the change to paragraph spacing for the Wiki made a while ago ended up stretching all our infobox templates, so we removed several line breaks to prevent the infoboxes unnecessarily stretching out the pages. Unfortunately, that caused any line in the infobox that started with an asterisk (and there are many!) to display a regular asterisk instead of a bullet.

Anyway point is, I was going through the infoboxes and putting the line breaks back in to fix the asterisk problem, but alas, even with our current .9 spacing, (reduced from 1.25 but raised from .5), the infoboxes are still ridiculously huge. Now of course I'm still a proponent of going back to .5, BUT if you have any other suggestions for fixing the asterisk problem either 1) Without adding the line breaks again or 2) Finding some way to reduce the paragraph spacing artificially for the infoboxes, THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC. :D

Please respond at your earliest convenience, thanks!!! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 02:36, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Derp, editing twice. You mentioned the following in the Discussion Center: "We may want to create a generic infobox css class that is implemented skin-wide. That way we can override the larger spacing around paragraphs. It would also clean up lots of the inline css which would help page loads."
So... Uhm, that sounds great. Can you do this? Or teach me how to do it? o_o Embyr 75  --Talk-- 02:40, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
My PC died a little while a go and I finally got my new one up and running. I'm catching up on some of the work that is required (MW 1.22 coming soon!) so I won't be able to look into messing with a new infobox template for a bit. Shall I just reset the spacing to 0.5/0.5 and we can leave it for another day? I do check my messages here, but not as regularly (maybe once a week). -- Prod (talk) 07:29, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sure, that sounds fine! Thanks so much for your hard work! =) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 16:22, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Regulations on linking to other sites

Are we, as users and contributors allowed to make links to other sites within the article? I was wondering because I had seen that on the Metroid Recon page of this site there were many phrases that could be linked for ease of access... So are those links required to be internal, or can they be external too?

Problem confirming email address

Hi, I have tried multiple times to have a confirmation email sent to my address, but it never comes. (I've had this problem on a few other wikis.) Could you please fix this? Thanks. --GastonRabbit (talk) 06:58, 9 September 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Didja get it?

Hey Prod, I sent you an email via the "email this user" function a week ago but never heard back from you SO I wanted to make sure you received it. Let me know? Thanks! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 03:13, 21 December 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yep, got it, will try to reply by the end of the week. -- Prod (talk) 02:21, 23 December 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok, great. No rush. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't rotting in your junk pile somewhere. :P Embyr 75  --Talk-- 22:37, 23 December 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

<code> tags

Hey Prod, I don't know if this is new or not, but I noticed that anything in a <code> tag displays on a black background now... which is fine, except the text is also black, making it illegible. Example:

This isn't very easy to read. :P

Know of a fix? Thanks! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 03:02, 31 March 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've made a change to the css which I think should fix it. It's taking some time to get through the various caches though. I'll take another look tomorrow if it isn't fixed. -- Prod (talk) 03:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Um, the skin is also gone and looks like Strategy Wiki. O_o Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:36, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
...And Strategy Wiki looks like Metroid Wiki. Clever. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:40, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh man, I add one line of css and see what happens! Let me try again tomorrow when we get back to the real world. -- Prod (talk) 19:51, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK, I think it's fixed now. -- Prod (talk) 22:59, 3 April 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Extension:SearchBox

Could I bother you to install the SearchBox extension? I'd love to use it for the new Front Page mockup I'm working on. Unless there's another way? Thanks. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 21:46, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Skin

The skin seems to be, er, missing. No background to speak of. Any idea what's going on? Embyr 75  --Talk-- 20:48, 20 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Our image web server died (which hosts all the css/js/images) so had to rebuild it. Everything should be back to normal now. -- Prod (talk) 13:52, 21 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hooray! Thanks! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:26, 21 December 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
