Welcome[edit source]

Welcome to Metroid Wiki

Hello, Wookiee123, and welcome to Metroid Wiki! We're glad to have you here, and we hope you'll stay and contribute. Make sure you check out our help guides so you can learn the ropes and policies. Make sure you also check out the Discussion Center, our community hub page where you can talk with other editors. Most importantly, enjoy your time at Metroid Wiki. - The Metroid Wiki Staff

Few things[edit source]

A few things about images, please don't use image templates like {{screenshot}}. We're in the process of replacing those with {{source}} (with those templates being on well over 1000 file pages, it takes some time). If you are having trouble filling out that source template, don't worry about it, just include some details like where you got it from and if it was edited or not in the file summary and we can handle the rest. Also try not to upload images with capitalized extensions (.JPG and such), if you forget to do this it only takes a second for another administrator or I to move it to a lower cased extension. Anyway thanks for your contributions so far and I hope you'll stick around. MK  21:59, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Room edits[edit source]

When you're adding images to room articles (which is very helpful btw; we have more articles missing images than stubs right now), would you please use the "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button so you can get the image on the page in one edit? If you click save and then realize you missed something, which happens to all of us, please mark those edits fixing the mistake as "minor". Thanks for your time. When uploading images...[edit source]

You can add the {{source}} template to images by adding that code (and any other code you want) to the edit summary as you upload the image. That way, you won't have to go back and add the {{source}} template manually after the image has been uploaded. This cuts down on unnecessary edits and keeps the RC pretty. =) Furthermore, adding additional parameters to the source template (such as |game=, |obtained=, etc, see Template:Source for more info) keeps the images nicely sourced and categorized. Hope that helps! Feel free to drop any questions on my talk page or the talk page of any Administrator. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 21:43, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey there! Great job with your recent image uploads! They look awesome. =) Here's a little more info for your reference:
You can add which game the image you upload comes from and the type of image it is (usually a screenshot or artwork) by adding extra parameters to the {{source}} template. For example, if the image is a screenshot from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, you can add the following parameters:
{{source
|game = mp2
|type = ss
}}
Even better, if the shot came from a particular website, say, Youtube, you can add that, too, like this:
{{source
|game = mp2
|type = ss
|obtained = YT
|url = (add url to the video here!)
}}
Adding the site it came from is more for people's reference, but if you at least add the |game= and |type= parameters, it will categorize the image for you! So, if you use the first example (with the parameters |game = mp2 and |type = ss) the image will automatically be categorized under [[Category: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Screenshots]]. Fancy, huh? =D Adding these parameters aren't imperative or anything, but it sure makes finding images easier! Keep up the great work!!! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 20:35, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

More image suggestions[edit source]

Hi there! Me again. =) I was wondering what your main source is for your images. Frankly, some of them are pretty pixelated, and while they're better than nothing, they'll have to be replaced as better images become available. May I ask if you're using Youtube to capture the images? If so, I'd like to recommend capturing images from walk-throughs by Capoland, who uploads many of his videos in HD. Loading the videos (or the section of the video containing the image you want) in 720p usually yields a crisper, brighter image. Regardless of what tools you have at your disposal, we appreciate any contribution you can make! =) See you around! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 19:46, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

MPH Rooms-nav[edit source]

Since you're making a rooms-nav for Hunters, you're probably using a tabbed nav to set it up. If that's the case, if you have any coding questions with the tab template, I can help you with them, so don't hesitate to ask. Image source[edit source]

The version of Charge Beam zm Manual Image.jpg you uploaded was from Metroid Recon correct? MK  19:39, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Correct. The previous version of that image was the Long Beam (and the manual for the Charge Beam was for the Long Beam too). Wookiee123 19:49, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Whoops. Thanks for fixing them. MK  20:02, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Echoes Rooms Articles[edit source]

Looks like SOMEONE'S playing echoes... :D --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 07:50, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Multiple Edits[edit source]

Hey Wookiee123! Thank you for your recent additions to Metroid Wiki! I noticed you've been making a lot of edits to the same page over a short time. Doing this puts a strain on our server and clogs up the recent changes. So instead of saving a lot, use the "show preview" button next to the "save page" button before you save. It'll allow you to view your edit for any mistakes so you don't have to make a lot of fixing edits or additional ones! Hope this helps! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 05:31, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Re:Categories[edit source]

Thanks for asking, but you can definitely go ahead and add them where they need to be added. It's a big job for one person. Galvartes 20:56, 4 April 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hey![edit source]

Just wanted to say nice to see you back editing again! Looks great! :) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 01:39, 23 March 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you! I look forward to staying here longer and making substantial differences! --Wookiee123 (talk) 05:21, 23 March 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Recent volume of edits[edit source]

I'm thinking someone can put you on an autopatrolled list, or maybe even make you a patroller if you are interested. Although I'm only throwing things out there, I don't have the power to make you a patroller, nor do I have the ability to decide that you can be one unanimously lol Just wondering if that's something you'd wanna try, if so maybe we can talk to Prod or Metroidking, though Mk has been absent for a while --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 06:02, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm also for at least the autopatrolled list, the edits are of good quality and you're consistent about correcting your own mistakes (which is AWESOME!). Plus, it would leave a lot less edits to patrol lol. As of right now, I'm up to edits from April 8th... Embyr 75  --Talk-- 21:47, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've granted rollback permissions. This should allow patrolling of edits. -- Prod (talk) 18:18, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Patrolling[edit source]

Congrats on your promotion!! I thought I'd leave a few tips here in case you aren't familiar with how rollback/patrolling works. :)

On the Recent Changes, edits that haven't been patrolled yet will have a red exclamation mark beside them. If you click the "diff" option on the left, it will show you the difference between that revision and the previous one and give you the option to "mark as patrolled."

What you're basically patrolling for is the factuality and quality of the edit. If the edit doesn't need to be revised, or if you'll be revising it yourself, then mark the edit as patrolled so other patrollers will know that the edit has been checked. If you aren't sure if an edit needs fixing or if the info is correct, either do a little research and come back to it or leave it for someone else to check.

Finally, the rollback option that appears on the right in the Recent Changes lets you revert all the edits made consecutively by a particular user to a previous revision by a different user. You don't get the option to edit the page though, like you do with the undo button, so use it carefully!

You can also change how the Recent Changes looks for you using the option to Hide or Show patrolled edits. These can be permanently toggled in your preferences.

Let me know if you have any questions!! :) Embyr 75  --Talk-- 05:44, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you! I am happy to accept this promotion. I always am glad to help out in the expansion of information on this wiki. I will be practicing these skills over the next few weeks. --Wookiee 123 02:53, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Congrats! --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 04:24, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Bonus Disc logbook[edit source]

Just wanted to let ya know that I added the bonus disk in the logbook template, I take way too long to get around to those things... Anyways, when using the logbook template for it, add "mp2bonus" under the game part, where you would normally write just "mp2". --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 18:46, 4 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Re: Merger request[edit source]

Hey thanks for the offer, but I'm afraid we'll have to decline. Wikitroid is looking into new hosting, as FastLizard4 stated, but we still wish to be separate from NIWA. Nor do we want our content borrowed over to here, as we have worked hard to have it as it is. I understand how hard it is to create a wiki for a subject as massive as the Metroid universe, especially when other franchises are more popular; however, as your fellow editors have stated, it's nice to build a wiki from scratch and watch it grow. A little competition is nice as well. :) Again, I'm sorry to decline but I do not believe a merger of any kind is possible in the foreseeable future. I wish you luck in your wiki's future. The ExterminatorTalk/Contribs. 16:58, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No content will be copied over, and best of luck if you do move off wikia. MK  18:38, 16 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm not stalking you, but...[edit source]

Hey Wookiee123! I noticed that you've posted yourself as active on Wikitroid again. Does that mean you won't be editing here anymore?? =( Of course, where you edit is your own business. But we'd hate to lose you! I hope you'll still edit here from time to time, too. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:02, 18 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh, don't worry about it. I've decided to edit both wikis separately. I'll still be editing this wiki too. I'm going to start getting more active here too.--Wookiee 123 19:56, 18 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
