Fires three beams

The Wide Beam, is a beam weapon that debuts in Metroid Fusion. It is similar to Super Metroid's Spazer Beam in function. The Wide Beam has no non-combat related applications, as it doesn't open special doors or commit to special functions. It does, however, increase damage dealt and provides Samus the tactical advantage of a larger area of damage due to its capability to fire multiple beams at once. The width of the Wide Beam is about the height of Samus, a substantial increase roughly three times the size of Samus's former Power Beam outfitted with the Charge Beam. The Wide Beam stacks with all further weapons, including the Plasma Beam and the Charge Beam.

Samus obtains this beam when she defeats a Human Core-X, a Hard Core-X that mimicked a recently deceased crewman.[1] Before she does, the Human Core-X will quickly reveal its Hard Core-X form and attack Samus using the same Wide Beam.

Manual[edit | edit source]

Manual info from Metroid Fusion
Wide Beam: Use the Wide Beam to shoot three normal beams at the same time. The possibility of hitting something greatly increases.[2]

  1. "The X mimicked a crew member... It all makes sense now. The X can absorb the memories and knowledge of their prey. What an astounding find. HQ was very impressed. But don't you find it strange? This could have destroyed the station with the X in it, not to mention to SA-X. Unusual for a self-preserving species like the X. Unless... Your presence is an even greater threat, a threat to the existence of X elsewhere... This is only a hypothesis... Perhaps... Their survival instinct is in conflict with their newly-borrowed intelligence... Don't let your guard down yet. The X are still a threat. Samus, I see bio-signs on the Habitation Deck. Survivors? The infected crewman you saw had survived until recently. Maybe there's a chance... The signs emanate from here." —Adam Malkovich (Metroid Fusion)
