The Diffusion Beam is a beam upgrade from Metroid: Other M, and one of only two new upgrades. Samus obtains this upgrade upon defeating three machines armed with the beam known as the FG-1000.
Like the Diffusion Missile, it's a charge upgrade, and will burst into a wide radius on contact, hitting multiple targets when close enough. It spreads the range of the Charge Beam, giving it the ability to hit multiple enemies at once. The effect of this weapon is carried on through other beam upgrades Samus obtains.

- This upgrade adds some serious fireworks to a well-placed Charge Beam. The energy from the shot will scatter around the point of impact, devastating nearby enemies.[3]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- This weapon upgrade is the only upgrade unique to Metroid: Other M. It is also one of only two that Samus obtains in Other M rather than it being authorized; the other is the Seeker Missile Launcher.
- This beam has the same name as R.O.B.'s Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
