Gyroscopic Ring

Gyroscopic Rings are devices created by the Luminoth. Based on principles of angular momentum, these gyros are used by Luminoth in their power generation efforts in the Sanctuary Fortress. This represents a significant step forward from modern-day usage of gyros, primarily as orientation devices.
Properties[edit | edit source]
Gyroscopic Rings are used in both the Minigyro Chamber and the Main Gyro Chamber as components of energy production systems. In both instances, Samus must disengage the gyroscopic action to avoid damage incurred by contact with the rings.
Minigyro Chamber[edit | edit source]
There are four Gyroscopic Rings in motion in the Minigyro Chamber, each a different color. These rings had been running for 30 cycles as part of an unnamed energy production system.[1] Using correlating Bomb Slots in the proper sequence, Samus can deactivate the rings and create a stable passage through which she can roll in her Morph Ball. That lockdown code is Amber, Cobalt, Crimson, and Emerald, which is, in fact, the four colors of the gyro in alphabetical order.[2]
Main Gyro Chamber[edit | edit source]
The two massive Gyroscopic Rings in the Main Dynamo Chamber are significantly larger than the rings in the Minigyro Chamber and are part of the main power generation Dynamo for the Sanctuary Fortress. The first ring can be deactivated by solving a simple puzzle involving rotating lenses that acts as the security system.[3] Once deactivated, this larger ring can be used as a platform. The smaller ring is equipped with a Spider Ball Track and can be used to access higher areas of the room.
