Samus dematerialized in the Interdimensional Void

Game(s)

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

The Interdimensional Void is the anomalous plain that separates dimensions in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Matter that enters the Interdimensional Void is dematerialized and irretrievably scattered throughout its vastness. While on the divided planet Aether, however, Samus Aran discovers temporary spatial rifts that are capable of transmitting living beings to an alternate dimension through the Void.[1]

When Samus traverses the Void, it appears as a dense black and purple fog. Her body is deconstructed moments after entering the Void and rematerialized at the event horizon of the Portal at the destination dimension. Once Samus causes the collapse of the alternate dimensions, the Portals vanish and the Interdimensional Void becomes inaccessible.

They are unstable, however, and only remain viable for limited periods of time.
