The following is a list of locations of Missile Expansions Samus can acquire in the Metroid series.

Metroid: Zero Mission[edit | edit source]

Brinstar No items are needed Samus must travel to the corridor that leads to Norfair, then jump across the platforms to where the Expansion awaits.
Brinstar Missiles From the corridor leading to Norfair, Samus must backtrack into the vertical shaft closest to the corridor, then use her newly-acquired Missiles to open a Red Door, revealing a chamber with large amounts of insect nests. The Expansion sits in the upper left corner, through a fake portion of wall and behind an insect nest that must be destroyed with a Missile.
Brinstar Missiles From the corridor with the insect nests, Samus must exit through the right, then proceed right until she comes across a blockage in the bottom of a wall. Shooting the blockage reveals the Expansion.
Brinstar Morph Ball Bombs After obtaining the Morph Ball Bombs, Samus lay one underneath the Chozo Statue that held the upgrade, revealing a hidden passage that can only be traversed with the Bombs. The Expansion sits at the end of the passage.
Brinstar Morph Ball Bombs After obtaining the Morph Ball Bomb upgrade, Samus must travel back to the first tall shaft in Brinstar, then bomb open a hidden passage in the left wall on a small ledge. The passage leads to a hidden chamber with the Expansion.
Brinstar Morph Ball Bombs Samus must travel to the room that leads to Kraid's area, then lay a bomb in the lower left corner to reveal a Morph Ball Launcher. The Launcher hurls Samus through the Expansion.
Brinstar Ice Beam After locating the Ice Beam, Samus must return to the tall corridor adjacent to the room with the insect nests, then freeze two Ripper flying around on the left so she can access a tunnel with the Expansion at the end.
Brinstar Samus must travel to the corridor where she first encounters Deorem, then Shinespark so she can break through a set of blocks in the shaft to the left, granting access to the Expansion.
Brinstar No items are needed After obtaining the Varia Suit, Samus must travel back down the long corridor, then exit through the right. She must then cross through the room with the Save Station, into another corridor. At the end of this corridor sits the Expansion.
Brinstar Power Grip Samus must travel to the room with the insect nests, then exit through the left. She must then bomb through the floor into another hidden room with the Expansion in an alcove on the right. The alcove is nearly impossible to enter without the Power Grip.
Crateria No items are needed Samus must travel to the elevator that leads to Norfair, then exit through the right. She must then drop down to the bottom left of the water-filled basin and shoot her way through the obstacles to the left blocking access to the Expansion.
Crateria Unknown Item 1 Just after Samus obtains Unknown Item 1, she must shoot an Unknown Item Block to reveal the Expansion.
Crateria Samus must use a Power Bomb to open a Yellow Door leading to Chozodia, then use the corridor to build up Speed Booster charge. She must then run back to underneath the Yellow Door, enter Morph Ball form, then Shinespark through a set of blocks to the left blocking access to the Expansion.
Norfair Morph Ball Bombs Samus must travel to the elevator leading to Brinstar, then exit through the left. She must then travel through the corridor. The Expansion is at the end of the corridor, in a small hole in the wall that can be accessed with the Morph Ball Bombs or the Power Grip.
Norfair No items are needed After obtaining the previous Expansion, Samus must continue left until she reaches the elevator to Crateria, then travel right until she discovers the Expansion.
Norfair Ice Beam After obtaining the Ice Beam, Samus must travel to the lava-filled cavern to the right of a Save Room, then freeze a creature at the apex of its jump. She must then use it as a platform to reach the Expansion.
Norfair Ice Beam Samus must travel to the room containing the Ice Beam, then travel left until she reaches a large shaft. She must then climb up the shaft by freezing Ripper, then exit to a chamber with a Chozo Statue, with the required exit at the right. From there, Samus must travel across another lava pool, freezing Ripper to use as platforms as she goes, finally using a final Ripper to access the Expansion inside the right wall.
Norfair Varia Suit Samus must travel to the large shaft in the east of Norfair, then travel to the top, using her Varia Suit to access a corridor with extremely high temperatures. The Expansion is at the end of the corridor.
Norfair Hi-Jump Boots Just after Samus obtains the Hi-Jump Boots, she must travel back in the direction of the large shaft. Along the way, she passes through a room with the Expansion now easily accessible with the Hi-Jump Boots.
Norfair Samus must travel to the room to the left of the large shaft, then use her Speed Booster to break through the floor, dropping to the ground and opening the door with a Super Missile, accessing a super-heated room. The Expansion is at the end of the corridor.
Norfair Ice Beam or Space Jump Samus must go to the Norfair Map Room, then travel right until she reaches a dead-end. She must then shoot out a hole in the floor and drop down, exiting through the left. Inside this corridor, there is a pipe constantly spawning enemies; Samus must either use her Ice Beam to freeze the enemies strategically in order to access the Expansion to the left, or simply Space Jump over to the Expansion.
Norfair Varia Suit Samus must travel back to the room beneath the Map Room, then travel to the right this time. She must then travel right to a nondescript corridor, shooting the floor out to access a super-heated corridor. The Expansion sits inside the ceiling within the corridor.
Norfair Varia Suit In the same super-heated corridor as the previous Expansion, Samus must travel to the very right of the corridor; the Expansion sits within an alcove there.
Norfair Speed Booster After defeating the two Kiru Giru larvae, Samus must use her Speed Booster to break through the floor in the room to the right. The Expansion is now accessible on the left.
Norfair Screw Attack After obtaining the Screw Attack, Samus must travel back to the left, then break through a set of blocks in the ceiling, granting access to the Expansion.
Norfair After recovering her Power Suit, Samus must travel back to the shaft below the Map Room, then blow another hole in the floor, descending to the bottom of the lava-filled corridor. She must then reveal the Expansion with a Power Bomb.
Kraid No items are needed Samus must travel to the first Save Room in Kraid, then roll through a Morph Ball hole in the left of the room. The tunnel leads to a small room with the Expansion.
Kraid Missiles Samus must travel back to the first Save Room, then open the Red Door within the Save Room. The Red Door leads to a room where the Expansion sits on a pillar.
Kraid No items are needed From the previous Expansion's location, Samus must travel up the shaft at the far right of the room, then use a Morph Ball Bomb to uncover a Morph Ball Launcher. The Launcher launches Samus through a tunnel near the hole that leads to the Expansion.
Kraid No items are needed After defeating Mua, Samus must shoot the floor in the room's center, then drop down the hole. She must then travel left into a room with the Expansion sitting on a pillar.
Kraid No items are needed Samus must travel from the first Save Room to the adjacent shaft, then enter the door directly below the door to the Save Room. She must then travel through the room using the Zip Lines there. Finally, she must proceed onward until she encounters a room with two large Sidehoppers, defeating them and unlocking the door. The door leads to the glass tube with the Expansion.
Kraid No items are needed From the glass shaft near the previous Expansion, Samus must bomb the bottom of the shaft, then drop down to the bottom and go through the right door. She must then travel right through the Red Door, then use the Morph Ball Launchers to break the obstructions along a Zip Line. The Zip Line leads straight to the Expansion.
Kraid Speed Booster After defeating Kraid and obtaining the Speed Booster, Samus must travel back to the large purple shaft, then build up speed into the room to the right, accessing a hidden shaft. She must then climb up the shaft until she finds a door on the left that leads to a corridor. At the end of the corridor, she must shoot the wall to reveal the Expansion.
Kraid No items are needed Samus must travel to the large shaft near the entrance to Kraid, then enter the third door down from the top. She must then destroy the Sidehoppers and activate the Zip Line, climbing up to the Zip Line and dropping off to the Expansion.
Kraid Samus must travel to the room with the glass tube and the acid pits, then enter the second acid pit. She must then build up Speed Booster charge by running to the right, then Shinespark through the wall into a small chamber with the Expansion.
Ridley Super Missiles Samus must travel to the main elevator shaft, then use her Super Missiles to open a Green Door blocking access to a Save Room. In the bottom of the Save Room is a Morph Ball tunnel that leads to the Expansion.
Ridley Speed Booster Samus must travel to the Ridley map room, then open the door on the right to access a long corridor. She must use the long corridor to build up speed properly, then break through the blocks in the bottom of the corridor with the Speed Booster. She must then Shinespark upward in the left part of the room, accessing a maze of tunnels. In the maze of tunnels, underneath a set of crumbling blocks, sits the Expansion.
Ridley Speed Booster After obtaining the previous Expansion, Samus must travel upwards and access another Expansion.
Ridley No items are needed Samus must travel far to the right in the large corridor next to the Map Room, then grab the Expansion sitting on a pillar.
Ridley No items are needed Samus must travel to the Save Room to the right of the previous Expansion, then travel right and up a large shaft, exiting through the second door on the left from the bottom. She must then travel to the left, then drop down through a hidden tunnel into a pool of fake lava. The Expansion is in the bottom right of the fake lava.
Ridley No items are needed From the corridor containing the previous Expansion, Samus must travel to the left into a new room, then lay a Bomb at the base of the obstruction, gaining access to the Exansion.
Ridley No items are needed From the room with the previous Expansion, Samus must travel to the room directly to the left, then freeze one of the enemies flying about to gain access to a pillar with the Expansion.
Ridley No items are needed From the pillar with the previous Expansion, Samus must exit through the left, then jump up a tunnel in the right of the room, accessing a small chamber with the Expansion.
Ridley No items are needed From the room with the previous Expansion, Samus must exit through the left, then climb through the tunnels, dropping down to the Expansion.
Ridley No items are needed From the room with the previous Expansion, Samus must drop down a set of crumbling blocks carefully, then shoot a block out from in front of the Expansion, making it easily accessible.
Ridley No items are needed Samus must travel to the large corridor to the right of the Map Room, then climb up the shaft and exit through the left. She must then use the flying enemies to access a hidden portion of ceiling with the Expansion.
Ridley Samus must travel to the long corridor near the bottom of Ridley, then build up Speed Booster charge through the adjacent Save Room, then Shinespark through the ceiling in the room to the right of the Save Room, revealing a hidden chamber. She must then build up more Speed Booster charge, then Shinespark in Morph Ball mode through the right side, accessing a crumbling section of tunnel that must be traversed with the Space Jump. At the end of the tunnel sits the Expansion.
Ridley Speed Booster After obtaining the previous Expansion, Samus must travel back across the corridor, then Shinespark upward at the very right edge, accessing another hidden room. She must then build up speed with the Speed Booster, then jump and Shinespark simultaneously leftward, shooting blocks and one Missile block along the way to finally discover the Expansion.
Tourian Samus must travel back to Tourian after recovering her Power Suit, then Shinespark through Mother Brain's remains, accessing a hidden chamber with the Expansion.
Chozodia Legendary Power Suit After recovering her Power Suit, Samus must access the chamber filled with water outside the Ruins Test, then exit through the upper right. She must then climb down until she finds an alcove in the wall. The alcove contains the Expansion, hidden behind a Missile block.

Metroid Prime[edit | edit source]

In Metroid Prime, there are a total of 49 Missile Expansions available to collect. These Missile Expansions, plus the 5 that come with the Missile Launcher, allows Samus to hold a maximum of 250 missiles.

Tallon Overworld - Landing Site Morph Ball After obtaining the Morph Ball, Samus must return to the Landing Site, then enter her Morph Ball and roll through a small tunnel in the wall behind her ship. The Expansion is in the center of the tunnel.
Tallon Overworld - Transport Tunnel B No items are needed Samus must walk down into the area the bridge spans, then look under the bridge for the Expansion.
Tallon Overworld - Overgrown Cavern No items are needed Samus must enter the Overgrown Cavern through the Transport to Chozo Ruins East, then look around for the Expansion in a patch of Venom Weed
Tallon Overworld - Frigate Crash Site Gravity Suit Samus must enter the Frigate Crash Site with the Gravity Suit, then look underwater for a small alcove next to a tangled mass of tree roots. The alcove contains the Expansion, but is high up enough to be inaccessible without use of the Gravity Suit.
Tallon Overworld - Biohazard Containment Super Missiles Samus must find a hatch made of Cordite in the wall, then destroy it with a single Super Missile. Destroying the Cordite reveals the Expansion.
Tallon Overworld - Arbor Chamber Samus must climb up the Root Cave using the Grapple Beam and X-Ray visor to cross the large gaps, then open the Red Door at the top with her Plasma Beam, granting access to the Arbor Chamber. The Expansion sits inside the center of the Arbor Chamber.
Tallon Overworld - Root Cave High up in the Root Cave, Samus must use her X-Ray Visor to find a false wall made of roots. The Expansion sits peacefully behind the wall.
Tallon Overworld - Great Tree Chamber X-Ray Visor Samus must climb up the Great Tree Hall, then use her X-Ray Visor to climb across to a ledge with a door leading to the Great Tree Chamber. The Expansion is inside the Great Tree Chamber.
Tallon Overworld - Life Grove Tunnel Boost Ball Samus must roll through the Life Grove Tunnel until she reaches a Half-pipe structure, then use her Boost Ball to get to the top of that section of tunnel. She must then lay a Morph Ball Bomb in the center of the floor there to fall down through a hidden section of tunnel, grabbing the Expansion halfway down.
Chozo Ruins - Main Plaza Boost Ball Samus must travel to the Main Plaza after obtaining the Boost Ball, then use a Half-pipe there to access an alcove holding the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Main Plaza Grapple Beam Samus must enter the Main Plaza from the Training Chamber, then swing across on the Grapple Points over to a small ledge with the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Main Plaza Super Missiles Samus must shoot off the knot on the giant tree within the Main Plaza using a Super Missile. Inside where the knot was sits the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Ruined Nursery Samus must enter the tunnel in the Ruined Nursery in Morph Ball mode, then travel through the tunnel using her Morph Ball Bombs to destroy the obstructions along the way. The Expansion is at the end of the tunnel.
Chozo Ruins - Ruined Gallery Morph Ball Samus must use her Morph Ball to enter and roll through a tunnel. The Expansion sits at the end of the tunnel.
Chozo Ruins - Ruined Gallery Missile Launcher Samus must destroy a weakened section of wall with a single Missile, revealing the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Ruined Shrine Boost Ball Samus must use her Boost Ball to access a small tunnel at the top of a Half-pipe structure, then roll through the tunnel to the end. The Expansion sits at the very end of the tunnel.
Chozo Ruins - Ruined Shrine Morph Ball Bombs Samus must use her Morph Ball Bombs to destroy a small section of wall made of Talloric Alloy, then roll through the uncovered tunnel to the end. The Expansion is at the end of the tunnel.
Chozo Ruins - Vault Morph Ball Bombs Samus must lay a Morph Ball Bomb in three Morph Ball Slots, unlocking a gate that blocks the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Ruined Fountain Spider Ball Samus must roll onto the fountain in Morph Ball mode, then ride on the series of Spider Ball Tracks on the ceiling with her Spider Ball after the fountain launches her up to the ceiling. The set of Tracks leads to a small alcove with the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Gathering Hall Space Jump Boots Samus must use her Space Jump to jump up to the highest platform in the room, then lay a Morph Ball Bomb to blow open a grate that blocks access to the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Watery Hall Access Missile Launcher Samus must destroy a weakened section of wall with her Missiles, revealing the Expansion sitting in an alcove.
Chozo Ruins - Watery Hall Gravity Suit After obtaining the Gravity Suit, and now that the previously polluted water has been properly purified, Samus must go underwater in the Watery Hall, then look around for a small tunnel that leads to the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Burn Dome Morph Ball Bombs After destroying the Incinerator Drone and reclaiming the Morph Ball Bomb ability, Samus must destroy a weakened section of wall opposite the entrance to the Burn Dome using a single Morph Ball Bomb, revealing a tunnel. The tunnel leads to a small section of the room with the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Furnace Samus must lay a Power Bomb on the floor to destroy a section of floor made of Bendezium, revealing a Half-pipe that Samus can Boost Ball up the sides of to a long series of Spider Ball Tracks. The series of Tracks leads to an alcove on the other end of the room holding the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Dynamo Missile Launcher Samus must blow open a grate across the room from the door to reveal the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Dynamo Spider Ball Samus must use her Spider Ball to ride up a set of Tracks to a small alcove with the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Crossway Samus must destroy Cordite covering a console that must be scanned, then scan the console to activate the Morph Ball Slots high up on the wall. She must reach the Slots with the Boost Ball and Spider Ball; powering each activates an elevator that takes Samus up to the Expansion.
Chozo Ruins - Training Chamber Access No items are needed Samus must enter Morph Ball mode, then roll through a concealed tunnel within the large tree to a small chamber with the Expansion.
Magmoor Caverns - Storage Cavern Varia Suit Samus must roll through the Triclops-infested tunnel to a hidden section of tunnel leading to the Expansion.
Magmoor Caverns - Triclops Pit Samus must use her X-Ray Visor and Space Jump Boots to jump across a series of invisible platforms to a ledge with a pillar. Shooting the pillar with a single Missile reveals the Expansion where the pillar once stood.
Magmoor Caverns - Fiery Shores No items are needed Samus must roll across a small catwalk to a small ledge with the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Phendrana Shorelines Plasma Beam Samus must travel over to a frozen ice pillar, then melt it with her Plasma Beam, revealing the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Phendrana Shorelines Samus must use her Super Missiles to destroy a cover made of Cordite, revealing a terminal that must be scanned. Scanning the terminal reveals a set of Spider Ball tracks that leads to the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Ice Ruins East Spider Ball Samus must find a set of hidden Spider Ball Tracks among the destroyed buildings, then follow it using her Spider Ball. The Tracks lead directly to the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Ice Ruins East Plasma Beam Samus must use her Plasma Beam to melt a sheet of ice in the wall, revealing the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Research Lab Hydra Super Missiles Samus must destroy a pillar made of Cordite using a Super Missile, revealing the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Research Lab Aether No items are needed Samus must roll along a narrow catwalk in the lower level of Research Lab Aether. At the end of the catwalk sits the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Frost Cave Grapple Beam Samus must make her way up to the top of the giant Frost Cave, using several Grapple Points, Gliders, and stalactites along the way. At the top, she must shoot a final stalactite off the ceiling, breaking the ice below and granting access to the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Gravity Chamber Samus must travel up to the top of the Gravity Chamber, then use her Plasma Beam to melt a large stalactite, revealing a Grapple Point. She must then swing across using the Grapple Point to a small ledge with the Expansion.
Phendrana Drifts - Quarantine Monitor Samus must use her Spider Ball to climb up to the door to the elevator, then swing across the room to a ledge with a door leading to the Quarantine Monitor using the Grapple Points placed in the room. Inside the Quarantine Monitor sits the Expansion.
Phazon Mines - Main Quarry After defeating all the Space Pirates in the room, Samus must travel to the top of the mechanical structure, then energize a power conduit with the Thermal Visor and Wave Beam, causing the crane to swing around and break open a section of wall, revealing the Expansion. She must then climb over to the Expansion using a set of Spider Ball Tracks on the crane itself.
Phazon Mines - Security Access A Power Bombs Samus must destroy a section of wall made of weakened Bendezium with her Power Bombs, revealing the Expansion.
Phazon Mines - Elite Research Boost Ball Samus must travel to the top of the room, then use the Spinner there to rotate the laser to a weakened section of wall, revealing the Expansion.
Phazon Mines - Elite Control Access No items are needed Samus must shoot a crate filled with Phazon, destroying a section of wall and revealing the Expansion.
Phazon Mines - Phazon Processing Center Samus must use her X-Ray Visor to find a section of wall with the Expansion behind it, then lay a Power Bomb to destroy the section of wall, revealing the Expansion.
Phazon Mines - Metroid Quarantine A Samus must use her Power Bombs to destroy a weakened section of wall, revealing a set of Spider Ball Tracks that leads to the other side of the room. Once Samus has crossed, she must use her X-Ray Visor to reveal an invisible platform that takes her up to the ledge with the Expansion.
Phazon Mines - Fungal Hall Access Phazon Suit Samus must enter Morph Ball mode, then roll onto the Phazon-covered floor and under one of the mushrooms, where the Expansion sits. The Expansion is reachable without the Phazon Suit, but Samus will take significant damage from the Phazon on the floor without it.
Phazon Mines - Fungal Hall B No items are needed Samus must lay a Morph Ball Bomb in the middle of a circle of small rocks near the exit of the room, revealing a small hole with the Expansion inside. The hole can be perceived easily by using the Thermal Visor or X-Ray Visor.
Phazon Mines - Metroid Quarantine B Super Missiles Samus must destroy a containment tube made of Cordite by using a Super Missile, revealing the Expansion.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes[edit | edit source]

Temple Grounds - Transport to Agon Wastes No items are needed Samus must destroy a Splinter web near the elevator with a Charge Beam shot or Missile, revealing the Expansion.
Temple Grounds - Hive Chamber A No items are needed After returning the Light of Aether to Agon Wastes' Energy Controller, Samus must drop back down the shaft into Hive Chamber A, then defeat the Dark Missile Trooper that has appeared there. The Missile Trooper leaves behind the Expansion in its wake.
Temple Grounds - Hive Chamber B Morph Ball Bombs Samus must use her Morph Ball Bombs to destroy the cover to a Morph Ball tunnel. The Expansion sits at the end of the tunnel.
Sky Temple Grounds - Plain of Dark Worship Samus must use her Light Beam to energize a purple crystal in the Temple Assembly Site, revealing a Portal. She must then use her Dark Beam to energize a Portal leading to the Plain of Dark Worship. Once she is in Dark Aether, she must travel over to the giant tower of mutated Ingworms, where the Expansion sits. The Dark Suit is not necessary to obtain this Expansion; however, there are many active Ingworms in the Plain of Dark Worship, so the Dark Suit significantly lowers the damage Samus takes when obtaining this Expansion.
Temple Grounds - Temple Assembly Site Space Jump Boots After obtaining the Space Jump Boots, Samus must travel up to the west cliffside, then roll through a narrow tunnel in her Morph Ball. The tunnel leads directly to the Expansion.
Temple Grounds - Communication Area Samus must jump across the platforms, up to a cliff near the door leading to the Temple Assembly Site. She must then lay a Morph Ball Bomb on a small cover to reveal a small hole with the Expansion.
Temple Grounds - GFMC Compound Screw Attack Samus must climb up to high up on the platforms, then Screw Attack to the top of the damaged G.F.S. Tyr, where the Expansion sits.
Sky Temple Grounds - War Ritual Grounds Samus must use her Dark Visor to view the tower of mutated Ingworms in the War Ritual Grounds, revealing five red pods that must be destroyed with the Seeker Missile, thus lowering the gate. The Expansion sits inside the tower, behind the gate.
Sky Temple Grounds - Phazon Grounds Dark Visor or Screw Attack Samus must travel to the Phazon Grounds, then cross a Dark Tallon Metroid-infested chasm by using either the Dark Visor to reveal hidden platforms or the Screw Attack to jump across the chasm. The Expansion sits on a small ledge on the other end of the chasm.
Great Temple - Transport B Access Morph Ball Bombs Samus must roll into a hidden tunnel with her Morph Ball, then Bomb Jump through the tunnel to the very end. The Expansion sits at the end of the tunnel.
Great Temple - Transport A Access Morph Ball Bombs Samus must roll into the hidden area with the Save Station, then destroy a section of wall made of Talloric Alloy to reveal a tunnel that leads to the Expansion.
Agon Wastes - Sand Cache Translator Module updated to read Amber holograms After reading I-Sha's message in the Agon Energy Controller, Samus must travel to Mining Station A, then scan a gate with an Amber hologram, lowering the gate and revealing the Expansion.
Agon Wastes - Portal Access No items are needed Samus must travel to the side of the room with the dead Luminoth warrior, then roll behind its body in Morph Ball mode to find the Expansion.
Agon Wastes - Transport Center Morph Ball Bombs After raising the gate that is in a state of Transdimensional Flux in the Portal Site, Samus must travel to the Portal Terminal, then exit to the Transport Center. She must then activate a nearby Bomb Slot to raise the gate and grant access to the Expansion.
Agon Wastes - Command Center No items are needed When Samus first enters the Command Center, she rolls under the main section of the room unbeknownst to the Space Pirate forces there. At the first fork in the tunnel she runs through, she must roll to the right. At the end of the right path sits the Expansion.
Agon Wastes - Storage B Dark Beam After defeating Dark Samus for the first time and obtaining the Dark Beam, Samus must return to the Biostorage Station, then open a Purple Hatch with her Dark Beam to access Storage B. The Expansion sits inside Storage B.
Dark Agon Wastes - Ing Cache 4 Dark Beam After obtaining the Dark Beam, Samus must open a Purple Hatch in the western end of the Duelling Range to access Ing Cache 4. She must then drop down off the first platform she is on, then look under it for the Expansion.
Dark Agon Wastes - Crossroads Boost Ball After defeating the Boost Guardian and obtaining the Boost Ball, Samus must travel to the Transport Center, then use her Boost Ball and a Half-pipe to travel up to a Portal high in the room leading to the Crossroads. The one-way Portal comes out on an otherwise inaccessible ledge in the Crossroads, with the Expansion right in front of Samus.
Agon Wastes - Ventilation Area A No items are needed Samus must travel to the right section of the tunnel, then climb up to the top of the section of tunnel, where the Expansion awaits.
Agon Wastes - Main Reactor Samus must use her Spider Ball to ride up a set of Spider Ball Tracks in the corner of the room, then use her Boost Ball to travel between the Spider Ball Tracks around the pillars on the wall. At the end of the path sits the Expansion, inside a tank that must be destroyed with a Morph Ball Bomb.
Agon Wastes - Sand Processing Boost Ball Samus must use the Half-pipe in the room to access a small tunnel that leads to Bomb Slot that must be energized to drain the sand out of the room. This reveals a small hole in the bottom of the Half-pipe with the Expansion.
Agon Wastes - Storage C Samus must climb up to the northern upper ledge, then use her Boost Ball and Spider Ball to travel across a series of Spider Ball Tracks up to the eastern part of the room. She must then destroy the Green Blast Shield on the door to Storage C, accessing the room. The Expansion sits inside Storage C.
Agon Wastes - Storage A Power Bombs Samus must travel to Mining Station B, then destroy a weakened section of wall made of Denzium, revealing a White Hatch leading to Storage A. The Expansion is inside Storage A.
Agon Wastes - Mining Station A Samus must lay a Power Bomb to destroy a weakened section of wall made of Denzium, revealing a Kinetic Orb Cannon. The Cannon launches Samus up to a series of Spider Ball Tracks that lead to the Expansion.
Dark Agon Wastes - Junction Site Spider Ball Samus must use her Spider Ball to climb up a set of Spider Ball Tracks leading to a Bomb Slot. Energizing the Bomb Slot clears the way to the Expansion below.
Dark Agon Wastes - Warrior's Walk Super Missiles Samus must use a Super Missile to open a Green Blast Shield to get into the Warrior's Walk, then blow open a section of the floor above the underground Phazon. She must then walk on the Phazon a short distance to find the Expansion. The Light Suit, while not necessary, allows Samus to acquire the Expansion with the least amount of health lost.
Torvus Bog - Forgotten Bridge No items are needed Samus must first rotate the bridge in the Dark Forgotten Bridge, then cross the bridge to her destination. The Expansion sits on the ledge by the door leading out.
Torvus Bog - Hydrodynamo Station No items are needed Samus must scan a terminal at the bottom of the Hydrodynamo Station, extending a platform higher up in the shaft. The platform grants access to the Expansion.
Torvus Bog - Underground Tunnel No items are needed Samus must enter the Underground Tunnel from the Torvus Temple, then drop off the ledge she is on and roll underneath it in Morph Ball. The Expansion is under the platform.
Torvus Bog - Plaza Access Boost Ball Samus must enter the Plaza Access from Torvus Grove, then activate two Bomb Slots there to open a tunnel leading to another section of tunnel with a Half-pipe. She must then use the Boost Ball to enter a small alcove on the right side with the Expansion.
Torvus Bog - Portal Chamber No items are needed Samus must roll through a tunnel in Dark Torvus Bog's Portal Chamber, accessing a Portal leading to Torvus Bog's Portal Chamber. The Expansion is right next to the Portal in Torvus Bog.
Dark Torvus Bog - Undertransit One No items are needed Samus must roll through the tunnels of Undertransit One, then find a hidden section of tunnel near the left of the main tunnel. The Expansion is near the top of the tunnel network.
Torvus Bog - Abandoned Worksite Grapple Beam Samus must use her Grapple Beam to swing across to a small ledge that is otherwise inaccessible. The Expansion is on the ledge.
Torvus Bog - Path of Roots Grapple Beam Samus must enter the Path of Roots from the Great Bridge, then swing across with the Grapple Beam directly to a small ledge with the Expansion.
Torvus Bog - Torvus Lagoon Gravity Boost Samus must look underwater for a small ledge with the Expansion. The ledge is inaccessible without the Gravity Boost.
Torvus Bog - Gathering Hall Samus must drop underwater, then destroy both the cracked glass and drain cover to drain all the water out of the room. She must then use her Boost Ball and a Half-pipe to access two separate Spider Ball Tracks, each with a Bomb Slot at the end. Activating each Bomb Slot deactivates an energy shield blocking access to the Expansion.
Torvus Bog - Torvus Bog Spider Ball Samus must find a Spider Ball Track under the water, then follow it up to a Bomb Slot. Activating the Bomb Slot moves the Luminoth Statue in the room forward, revealing a small platform with the Expansion.
Torvus Bog - Torvus Grove Power Bombs Samus must destroy each of the weakened tree roots with a Power Bomb, causing the tree to fall into the rock wall. This reveals the Expansion sitting on the ground level.
Torvus Bog - Transit Tunnel South Annihilator Beam Samus must use her Annihilator Beam to open a Gray Door leading to Transit Tunnel South. She must then climb through the tunnel, activating the Bomb Slots as she goes. After activating all three Bomb Slots, she is free to claim the Expansion at the very top of the tunnel.
Dark Torvus Bog - Undertemple Screw Attack After obtaining the Screw Attack, Samus must use it to climb up a set of Wall Jump Surfaces at the north of the Undertemple. The Expansion is at the top of the Wall Jump Surfaces.
Ing Hive - Hazing Cliff No items are needed Samus must enter the Hazing Cliff, then travel to the end of the room, defeating a single Dark Tallon Metroid and two Dark Diligence Drones along the way. The Expansion is at the far end of the Hazing Cliff.
Sanctuary Fortress - Dynamo Works Spider Ball After the Spider Guardian meets its electrical demise and Samus obtains the Spider Ball, she must climb up the fourth section of tunnel on the Spider Ball Tracks, up to a hidden tunnel. The tunnel leads to a small alcove with the Expansion.
Sanctuary Fortress - Hall of Combat Mastery Spider Ball Samus must roll up a set of Spider Ball Tracks on the wall into a set of tunnels. She must then make her way through a large set of obstacles, including electrical force fields, flame spurts, and Phazon. At the end of the long path sits the Expansion.
Sanctuary Fortress - Main Research Spider Ball Samus must climb up a wall covered with Spider Ball Tracks by using her Spider Ball. The Expansion rests at the end of the Tracks.
Sanctuary Fortress - Central Area Transport West No items are needed Samus must travel to the top of the room, then drop down through the maze of tunnels. To reach the Expansion, she must take the left fork, then the right, right again, then the left again.
Ing Hive - Aerial Training Site Screw Attack Samus must use the Screw Attack to climb the set of Wall Jump Surfaces above the inactive Portal. The Expansion is in an alcove at the top.
Sanctuary Fortress - Temple Access If she hasn't already, Samus must activate the Kinetic Orb Cannon by using her Dark Visor and Seeker Missiles. She must then use her Echo Visor to target the machine sending the target to the cannon, changing the target slightly. The Cannon now launches Samus to a small tunnel with the Expansion nearby, but will change back to its original programming in a short time.
Sanctuary Fortress - Sentinel's Path Samus must travel to the Sentinel's Path through a Gray Door, then open the gate there by activating the Echo Key Beam System with her Echo Visor and Annihilator Beam. The Expansion sits behind the gate.
Sanctuary Fortress - Sanctuary Map Station Light Suit Samus must travel to the Sanctuary Map Station, then use the Light-Based Teleportation System there to teleport to a small chamber with the Expansion.

Norion - Maintenance Station Ice Missiles After defeating Rundas and obtaining his Ice Missiles, Samus must return to the Maintenance Station, then use the Ice Missiles to open a door with a White Blast Shield. The Expansion sits inside the Maintenance Station.

She must then use the Snatchers' floating ability to climb up to the upper left corner, then roll through the tunnel there. The Expansion sits at the end of the tunnel.
Bryyo Cliffside - Crash Site No items are needed After restoring power to the downed G.F.S. Theseus, Samus must roll back into the maintenance tunnel she uses to enter the Theseus, then climb up through the tunnel to the top of the ship. The Expansion is at the top of the ship, on one of the wings.
Bryyo Fire - Main Lift No items are needed Samus must gather a large group of Snatchers, then use them to float to a small tunnel in the upper left corner of the room. The tunnel leads directly to the Expansion.
Bryyo Fire - Gel Hall No items are needed Samus must shoot the Fuel Gel at the right time to burn the cables on the ceiling, causing a platform to drop. The Expansion is on the platform.
Bryyo Fire - Gel Hall Ice Missiles After obtaining the Ice Missiles, Samus must jump to the platform across the gap, then travel across the tunnel covered completely with Fuel Gel by using her Ice Missiles to freeze the Fuel Gel. The Expansion sits on a small platform at the end of the tunnel.
Bryyo Fire - Gel Refinery Site Samus must use her Ice Missiles to access a ledge on the northern side of the room, then open the White Blast Shield with an Ice Missile. She must then swing across the gap with the Grapple Swing, and exit through the door. Finally, she must yank a weakened pipe using her Grapple Lasso to reveal the Expansion on a nearby ledge.
Bryyo Cliffside - Reliquary III Samus must use her Grapple Swing to access a hidden ledge, then open the White Blast Shield there with an Ice Missile. The door leads to Reliquary III, where the Expansion sits peacefully.
Bryyo Thorn Jungle - Jungle Generator No items are needed Samus must jump up to the panel with a Bryyonian Data entry. The Expansion is inside the same alcove as the Lore.
Bryyo Thorn Jungle - Generator Hall North No items are needed Samus must use a pump terminal on the upper ledge to raise the lock, granting access to the Expansion in a nearby tunnel.
Bryyo Fire - Imperial Hall Plasma Beam Samus must travel to the Gel Refinery Site, then use her Plasma Beam to melt the ice along the southern wall, revealing a stretch of Morph Ball tunnel. She must then travel through the tunnel to a small section of room with a frozen door. Melting the ice on the door reveals an Orange Door that leads to an otherwise inaccessible area of the Imperial Hall. Inside the Imperial Hall, Samus must Grapple Lasso two platforms from the wall, then use them to reach a small ledge with the Expansion.
Bryyo Cliffside - Gateway Plasma Beam Samus must travel past the previously sealed door, then take the right fork in the Morph Ball tunnel. She must then melt a frozen Reptilicus with her Plasma Beam, revealing a tunnel that leads to the Expansion.
Bryyo Cliffside - Falls of Fire Screw Attack After obtaining the Screw Attack, Samus must travel to the bottom of the Falls of Fire, then use the Screw Attack to climb up a short pair of Wall Jump Surfaces. The Expansion is in a small alcove at the top of the Wall Jump Surfaces.
Bryyo Cliffside - Fuel Gel Pool Samus must travel to the Hidden Court, then exit through the Orange Door on the northern side of the room. She must then travel into the Fuel Gel Pool, then use her Ship Grapple Beam to lift the Golem head from the pool of Fuel Gel there. After the head is lifted, she must use her Ice Missiles to freeze the Fuel Gel spouts, then climb up the frozen Gel to a small ledge with the Expansion.
Bryyo Cliffside - Fuel Gel Pool After lifting the Golem head from the Fuel Gel pool, Samus must dive into it using her Hazard Shield. The Expansion is in an alcove hidden under the Fuel Gel.
Bryyo Cliffside - Hidden Court Boost Ball Samus must travel to the ledge with the Orange Door on the northern side, then use the Half-pipe there and her Boost Ball to access an alcove on the right with the Expansion.
Bryyo Cliffside - Hall of the Golems Samus must access the Hall of the Golems, then restore power to the rightmost derelict Golem there by using her Grapple Voltage. She must then activate the Golem's Bomb Slot, causing it to restore power to a set of Spider Ball Tracks around the wall of the room. Samus must follow the Tracks by using her Spider Ball and Boost Ball. The Expansion sits at the end of the Tracks.
Bryyo Cliffside - Burrow Ice Missiles Samus must activate the middle Golem in the Hall of the Golems by unblocking its Bomb Slot using an Ice Missile, then activating the Bomb Slot. The activated Golem freezes a large portion of Fuel Gel, allowing Samus to access the Burrow. Inside the Burrow, Samus must roll through the tunnels in her Morph Ball, down to a small alcove in the bottom left. The Expansion is in the small alcove.
Bryyo Thorn Jungle - Ancient Courtyard Boost Ball Samus must use her Boost Ball to access an alcove above a Half-pipe where the Maldium gate once stood. The Expansion is inside the alcove.
Bryyo Fire - Temple of Bryyo Samus must use her X-Ray Visor and Nova Beam to activate four switches behind a Phazite panel, opening a portion of the floor and revealing a pool of Fuel Gel underneath. Samus must venture into the Fuel Gel in Morph Ball mode using her Hazard Shield to avoid damage. The Expansion is in the Fuel Gel, a sizable distance from the entrance to the Fuel Gel.
SkyTown, Elysia - Transit Hub No items are needed Samus must roll through a short Morph Ball tunnel to access the Expansion.

Eastern SkyTown, Elysia - Botanica After reactivating the Chozo-built observatory, Samus must access the Botanica through an Orange Door, then proceed to the other end of the corridor. She must then turn around and Screw Attack across the platforms to a small ledge with the Expansion.

Pirate Command - Command Courtyard No items are needed Samus must power down the fans in the corner of the Command Courtyard, then roll through the exposed tunnel. At the fork, she must take the left path to reach the Expansion.
Pirate Command - Command Station No items are needed After traveling down a blue-colored lift in the tunnel, Samus must travel to the right, eventually reaching the Expansion at the end of the tunnel.

Pirate Mines - Phazon Mine Entry After obtaining the Nova Beam, Samus must exit to the Phazon Mine Entry, then unlock the wall made of Phazite by using her X-Ray Visor and Nova Beam. After the wall is unlocked, it falls, revealing a Phazon Metroid and the Expansion.
Pirate Command - Lift Hub Grapple Voltage Samus must use her Grapple Voltage to restore power to a terminal at the bottom of the lift hub, then shoot part of the floor off. She must then jump across the gap to a ledge with the Expansion.
Pirate Command - Flux Control Spider Ball After acquiring the Spider Ball, Samus must return to the Flux Control, then use her Spider Ball to follow a Spider Ball Track to the left up the wall. The Expansion is at the end of the Track.
G.F.S. Valhalla - MedLab Alpha Grapple Lasso Samus must travel to the western portion of the Security Access, then remove a set of obstructions by using her Grapple Lasso. This reveals a small tunnel that leads directly to the Expansion.
G.F.S. Valhalla - Auxiliary Lift No items are needed Samus must travel to the east at the top of the Auxiliary Lift, then follow the tunnel to the Expansion.
G.F.S. Valhalla - Weapons Cache 2 Energy Cells Samus must use two Energy Cells to restore power to a platform in the Stairwell, then enter the Weapons Cache using the platform. The Expansion sits peacefully inside the Weapons Cache.
