The first object in our series is a very classic, old-school commercial airing in North America uploaded to YouTube (uploaded by classicvgcommercials). This half-minute commercial aired around Super Metroid's release mid-1994, approximately two decades ago! This game must have been serious business to scare our rottweiler, "Killer", into the Taco Bell chihuaha! That's right, this commercial promises "Nintendo's biggest game ever!" and boy did we get it! While Super Metroid was not genuinely as appreciated during its time as it should have been, many retrospective gamers can see the long-lasting effect of the game. Looking back, this game did have many heart-pounding and frightening "oh crap!" moments, generally attributed to the intense boss battles paired with thrilling music. Whether or not this game can cause such fear enough to change a dog's breed, however, is debatable.
In all honesty, I myself was only an infant near the release of Super Metroid and I do not remember this commercial airing. However, there are certain aspects of this commercial that I can easily relate to my own childhood television experiences. Aside from its physical low quality by today standards, the originality and style of this short video is undeniably 90's.
