Power Bomb Guardian

The Power Bomb Guardian is a boss from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It is a Darkling Sporb possessed by the Ing that stole Samus's Power Bomb ability. This possession has replaced the Sporbs' normal ability to fire toxic needles with the ability to launch Power Bombs as well as making it immune to all weapons in Samus's arsenal. The Power Bomb Guardian is vulnerable to extreme kinetic energy however.[1]
Battle[edit | edit source]
The battle takes place in the large, circular Undertemple. The Power Bomb Guardian is invulnerable to all of Samus's weaponry. It attacks by spewing out Power Bombs at Samus, most often where it predicts Samus will be. Samus can damage the Power Bomb Guardian by bombing four Bomb Slots around the walls of the room. She must reach these Slots by using her Spider Ball to climb the walls to the Slots. After Samus bombs each Slot, a pillar retracts on the ceiling and shocks the Power Bomb Guardian. Several Inglets attack Samus throughout the battle. After three Bomb Slots have been activated, the Power Bomb Guardian begins to spew several Power Bombs at once in an attempt to trap Samus and knock her off the Tracks. After all four Slots have been activated, there is nothing holding part of the ceiling up, and it falls on the Power Bomb Guardian, finishing it.
