Improving this article[edit source]

Having completely and exhaustively listed each and every Portal in the entire game, I feel attached to this article. I'm wondering if there is any possible way that we can improve this. In other words, I'd be really, really excited if this article reached featured article quality in the next few months. Any suggestions on how to improve the article? Well for one thing, this could definitely use some organization through well thought-out and neatly arranged headers. Additionally, if you're going to make this your pet project, do research; read through lore and scans to effectively write the history and science of Portals. If you can find a way to breathe a little life into this article and make it as in-universe as possible, that makes for an excellent read!! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 01:00, 16 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alright, I'll try to get that sort of stuff on the article, thanks for the advice. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 00:25, 19 August 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Corruption[edit source]

Are Corruption Portals gunna go in this article? --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 22:27, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, my answer is that we should check the Scan Data from Corruption's portal (there's like, two or something, and they both are in Bryyo). If they have a name that is simply "Portal" in Corruption's Scan Data, then yes, I'd say we have to stick it here (although I can't think of any type of Lore or anything other than the single scan that would be used to make the article worth reading). And according to Wikitroid there are Portals in Hunters as well that we'd need to add here. But, as per usual, research and official names will carry us through. Embyr 75  --Talk-- 22:40, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, I heard about those there, but those were called Celestial Portals or something, so if I was on Wikitroid, I'd probably try to get it changed there =P. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects)
SHHH they might hear you!!! XD Embyr 75  --Talk-- 22:46, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've been meaning to say, but my current Corruption save file is Corrupted (after Gandrayda messages Samus while in disguise, it's supposed to reveal a landing site that allows access to her location, but that didn't trigger, so I'm left with a 60% finished file with a ton of data and stuff), so it's been delegated to a research file as of now, so next chance I get, I'll check the Bryyonian Portal's scan data. Until then, I think we should leave it out as such info would be very stubby and unsourced, and we don't enjoy that stuff usually. After much putting it off, I finally checked the so-called Portal on Bryyo, and much to my shock and utter surprise, Wikitroid is obviously wrong about the Bryyonian Poratls at least. Here's the scan data I gathered:

Unique eneregy signal detected. Pedestal is emitting a teleport signal. Approach pedestal to initiate teleport.

As you can see, this is obviously a teleporter set up by the Bryyonians to transit between remote locations of Bryyo. It could even get an article with a name such as "Bryyonian Teleporter" and maybe an article on the pedestal that generates the teleporter, as it has enough scan data evidence to give us good reason to name it such. Also, the Pirate Homeworld Portal is called Leviathan Portal, as evidenced just by the room names I believe, so that's a separate article, and as previously mentioned, the Hunters Portals are called "Celestial Portals" or something like that, so this article is fine as it is content-wise, and stands as one of our more complete and well-written articles currently. Ah, interesting. Thanks for the research! I did a little more digging on Wikitroid after reading this post and it revealed that the Bryyo teleporters are actually listed under "Warp Site" and they just have a blurb on the Portal page (Which makes little sense to me). But yes, it looks like this portal page is done! Is there a little more Scan Data we can reference? I seem to recall scans for "inactive" portals. If we can throw that on as well, that would be great. Unless I'm imagining things.... O_O Embyr 75  --Talk-- 18:37, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The portals do have scans when they are inactive, I'll add them to the page momentarily. MKMetroid mf Sprite.gif 18:41, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ah, they were talking about that? Well, that's virtually the same thing, and it's a one-way teleport basically, definitely not a Portal in the sense of what is called a Portal in the Metroid universe. I can also get the scan for the Warp Site teleporter thingy at a later date if necessary. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 19:45, 5 November 2011 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Infobox?[edit source]

This would look pretty with an infobox. Can we create one, perhaps for either technology or spatial anomalies? It would fit under either, in this case. Unless someone has a better suggestion, of course! Embyr 75  --Talk-- 17:51, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've been meaning to make one for those research entries and other sorts of things like that (like Wall Jump Surfaces and Spider Ball Tracks and the like), but I wasn't able to think of concise parameters and got distracted by the alarmingly high amount of creature article maintenance I had in front of me. Spatial anomalies seem too specific since there's not many that are actually anomalies. Technology seems too broad, so unless we strictly define what technology articles get this and what articles get a specific other infobox, it'd get confusing fast. Bop1996 (Talk | Unfinished projects) 20:58, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmm, true. Perhaps we could make a Technology infobox with the understanding that it is only for Technologies that are not any sort of Equipment used by Samus, or vehicles, weapons, or enemies. It could have parameters such as |Uses= |Creators= and |Locations=... As usual, though, I'm definitely open for better options. I'm just trying to get the ball rolling here. Why aren't there more odd phenomena in the Metroid series?! I would love a Phenomena infobox! XD Embyr 75  --Talk-- 23:55, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Since we were already going through and defining our infobox situation recently anyway, I have no problems with that, provided we can make it clear what articles it would go on. Creators, games, locations, planets, and users (and appearances to an extent, although there aren't many new technological aspects in the Smash Bros. series or manga) seem fairly standard. I'd focus on the rest having details such as how they affect the environment and how they are used, in addition to what the uses are.
