Welcome to Metroid Wiki

Metroid Wiki Logo Large.png

Hello, Melchizedek/archive01, and welcome to Metroid Wiki! We're glad to have you here, and we hope you'll stay and contribute. Make sure you check out our help guides so you can learn the ropes and policies. Make sure you also check out the Discussion Center, our community hub page where you can talk with other editors. Most importantly, enjoy your time at Metroid Wiki. - The Metroid Wiki Staff

Not to be Selfish, but

Could you promote me to Sysop? It looks like you and Nathan are the only ones that could edit Policy pages and whatnot, including the Main Page. I'll help out with that, along with other things to get the wiki going. In the meantime, I'll also be uploading images and creating Metroid articles(which I have done so with many images/articles so far). Also, don't take this as a greedy request to be promoted or anything; my intents are only to help in getting the wiki standing on four legs. I can totally understand you saying no to this. --Garlic Man 01:37, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

This really isn't my decision. I have referred you to Nathan, and he should get in touch with you. -Melchizedek  talk 02:01, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Does this new wiki lack the special thing which keeps userpages off of the wanted pages? Because if it doesn't, I'd suggest getting it ASAP :PNeo 01:58, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Extensions haven't been dealt with yet. What exactly is the 'special thing'? -Melchizedek  talk 02:20, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

From ZeldaWiki

I found out about this site via ZeldaWiki and I decide to pitch in my sadly my knowledge of Metroid is limited (this, however, should change as I have just started the Metroid Prime Trilogy) As I create pages here on metroidwiki, I know there is information I cannot supply, so should I mark them as a stub or something? If so, how do I do this. Thanks and I am looking forward to extending my knowledge of both Metroid and Wikis in general. p.s-On Zelda WIki when you are editing, below the edit box is a box so you can easily access symbols that are not on a keyboard. Will this site eventually get one? Again, I know its new so im just putting it out there... -User:Sephiner Shaeld

Hey, Sephiner Shaeld. Firstly, new sections on talk pages go at the bottom, and you need to end your posts with ~~~~, so I know who you are and when the message was posted. As for the box of symbols under the edit box, that is on my list of things to do. As for the stub pages, you can mark them as stubs by placing {{stub}} at the top of the article. Hope that helps. :) -Melchizedek  talk 05:58, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
The Editing Toolbox is now under the edit box. Hope that's helpful. -Melchizedek  talk 07:30, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: Autopatrol

Cool. I'd be willing to help with patrolling. 2257(t) 00:41, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

you have a little "an" instead of "am a bureaucrat" Malake256 21:39, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Chu talkin' 'bout willis? -Melchizedek  talk 08:58, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I have no ideer, I musta been high outta my mind lol jk jk --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 16:23, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Haha. No problem. Sorry for that late reply btw. -Melchizedek  talk 22:02, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
haha it's cool, it wasn't important or anything. Hey admins hardly get on here, so could you help me move Metroid manga to Metroid Manga, it's been bugging me for the longest time. I can't move it because Metroid Manga is already a redirect. --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 22:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, I've been... well, dead... for the last few months. ;) But now I am back, so expect stuff to happen. Am moving that page now. -Melchizedek  talk 22:41, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Staff/admin (Malake256 and TheSuperZeldaMan)

Hey, Melchizedek!! I've seen the news article about the Staff jobs, and am sort of, requesting for an Administrator job of some sort. I'm just a frequent editor on this site, and if I'm not mistaken, am the top one here. This doesn't allow me to access the Metroid Wiki base with no real problems whatsoever, but it is my ambition to help the site as much as I can. After al, I like to take indefensable positions and make arguments about them :). If you need any information from me, my Email is I'm doing this purely by request and understand your answer 105%. Thank you for your time. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 00:04, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

I would like to join the Metroid Wiki staff. I have contributed plenty and helped others stay on track to help this Wiki grow past 200 articles. I'm more experienced with content than with wiki technology, although I do know a fair amount of wiki code. I also already enforce the rules written all over the Help section, which people never seem to read. So, how about it? --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 00:06, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your requests. Glad to see the enthusiasm. What is the best way of communication for you two? Would you prefer e-mail or instant messaging? Skype is what our network uses primarily for staff contact, so is preferrered, but I can go MSN, AIM or e-mails for the time being if necessary. Whatever suits each of you guys; let me know. -Melchizedek  talk 00:13, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Page has been Watchlisted. Are you saying that we can use Skype now, or once (if) we get hired? - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 00:19, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
I would say email for now --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 00:22, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, Malake256, I'll e-mail you. If you have Skype SZM, then it would be great and easy to use now to contact you, as well as after you're hired. ;) -Melchizedek  talk 00:25, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
I for one haven't seen the site, but will give it a look in about....five seconds. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 00:31, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, seen Malake wants e-mail, I'll send the e-mail to both of you, so you don't have to worry about Skype at this stage. I'll try to get that through to both of you fairly soon. It will just be a couple of questions for you to answer. -Melchizedek  talk 00:40, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, Mel. We're both very excited. For Skype, do you want my account to be my user here (TheSuperZeldaMan)?- ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 00:52, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
No problem. the e-mail has been sent, so let me know if either of you didn't receive it for some reason. As for Skype, your name can be whatever you want. :) -Melchizedek  talk 01:02, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay. Congrats Malake256, you've been promoted to patrol. I've sent you an email telling you what you need to know. Still awaiting SZM's e-mail. -Melchizedek  talk 04:08, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
It's been sent. I'm happily and excitedly awaiting a response. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 21:17, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, SZM I've replied to your e-mail, which has what you need to know for now. So congrats, you've been ranked up to patrol. To the both of you, as I said in the e-mails, we need to get some more direct IM contact. So please, don't go about using your new powers yet until we're in touch. ;) If it is Skype that we use, my username is 'melchizedekeleazar'. -Melchizedek  talk 23:48, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
So I'm in touch with Malake on Skype, and will hopefully see you on there soon SZM. :) -Melchizedek  talk 10:06, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
I am extremely sorry for my "absence" this week. I've been extra busy with orientations and class sign-ups. I'm signing up for College really early, if you hadn't noticed. College courses started at my high school about two years ago, so I have a major head start. But anyway, I apologize for my neutralism and will try my best to recover the 3% hat I lost. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 20:34, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
My Skype is FoxHoundFreaks. How do you want to communicate with it? - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 20:41, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Not a problem. After all, Metroid Wiki is just a hobby, so its understandable when life gets in the way. Hence those two months I was away. :) As for Skype, I'll add you now. Metroid Wiki just uses the instant messaging feature, so voice chatting and video chatting with other staff is something at your discretion if you choose to do so. I only ever use the instant messenger feature when it comes to Metroid Wiki. -Melchizedek  talk 21:19, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
I couldn't find your Skype.... - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 04:25, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Dude, you messaged me! Man, it's been nothing but STUPOID from SZM today!!!!!!!! - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 04:28, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Considering the message I just received from you about your dorm rules; I didn't want to message you. So I'll be sending you an e-mail to clarify and discuss a few things. Until we've got your Skype use parameters sorted, we can keep it to e-mail for now. :) -Melchizedek  talk 09:30, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know I had any limitations. I'm IMing with Malake just fine, but if there's any oter method that would be more appropriate, let me know. - ZeldaMan (PostboxStatus) 01:55, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Well, with what you said about your dorm rules and only you contacting me first, it definitely sounds like you had some restrictions, but if not, that's good. Reply to my e-mail nevertheless, and then I can start showing you the ropes of MW. -Melchizedek  talk 07:40, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Staff/admin (Drake)

Wait a sec! Could I do this?! PLease? I don't really know how to do that signature, but I'm Drake! -Drake

Hey Drake. First off, to leave your signature just type ~~~~ at the end of your post. I am sorry to say that at this stage Metroid Wiki has adequate staff to fulfill all of the necessary duties. As we grow the need may arise for more staff. So in the meantime I implore you to continue editing, show your dedication to the community and develop your understanding of wiki operations. If you make a good impression through your edits, then you may be a potential future staff member. -Melchizedek  talk 06:08, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Cool, thanks. I hope to fill in a ton of info for the new game. -Drake

Great. I look forward to your contributions. :) -Melchizedek  talk 00:10, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
1 question though, could there be an easier way to communicate to you, maybe you could help me out and teach me some editing? -Drake
Sure thing. How's the instant messenger Skype for you? I'm pretty much always around on there so that's a better way for contact. My username on there is 'melchizedekeleazar'. -Melchizedek  talk 20:52, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Um..... about that, I have no idea what that is, and if its like Facebook, you don't really need it. That's whats e-mail's for. what about that? -Drake
It's nothing like that. It's just a very simple way to IM, faster than e-mail. And it's not all flashy like myspace or facebook. It's just a way of comunicating. For signatures, do four tildes --Malake256 {Talk | Contribs} 00:58, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
I can't get on stuff like that, I don't even want to. -Drake
Haha. Skype is nothing like Facebook, as Malake said, it's just instant messaging software. Well, I'm not entirely sure what you're after Drake when you say "an easier way to communicate". You can e-mail me at, but that's an even more out of the way contact method than messaging here at the wiki. It is of course up to you, but the best way to get involved in Metroid Wiki is through Skype, and seen as this all started with you requesting to be a staff member, Skype is inevitably a requirement to move your way up at Metroid Wiki. I guess the question is what exactly are you after? Is it just basic editing tips like those in the Help Guide? Is it tips from wiki editors, because if so, look to patrollers like Malake for help there. -Melchizedek  talk 11:05, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Oooh, I guess I need to learn alot to advance in the wiki. -Drake

In the welcome box both Ridley and Kraid lead to disambiguation pages. Can you pipe them so they lead to the character pages? Metroidking 06:36, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. Has been fixed. -Melchizedek  talk 10:41, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry for making things more difficult for you to fix, here are the pages that are still messed up: Ridley (area), Dark Temple Key, Kalandor Region, Ridley (specimen), Talk: Ridley (specimen), Galactic Federation, and Space Pirate. Metroidking 18:07, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing them out. They have all been restored. -Melchizedek  talk 21:52, 26 June 2010 (UTC)

a question

Hey what did thebestmetroidfan do wrong? I saw his talk page and i am wondering what's going on -Kaycato

First thing, make sure to sign your talk page posts with ~~~~ at the end, so people know who the message is from. Now as for Thebestmetroidfan, he did numerous things warranting a ban: flaming, disregard of staff members and copying content from Wikitroid. I won't go terribly much into it, as it isn't your concern, but his contributions tell the story.
Also, I won't hide the fact that creating an account to go straight into this message is highly suspicious. ;) -Melchizedek  talk 02:27, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
From thebestmetroidfan:listen, first off, I didn't mean to do the wikitroid thing, I had no idea you didn't except that, AND I changed the content into MY OWN WORDS to prevent any troubles, next, with the flaming thing, THAT WAS A VANDAL! IT WASN'T ANYONE ON THE WIKI and for the disregarding the staff, I wasn't resisting you guys at all, I was just being a simple person on the wiki if you want to sort this out face to face, come to this chat Kaycato 02:42, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay, Kaycato, so you're someone speaking for Thebestmetroidfan? Creating an account just for that purpose is redundant. It doesn't matter if it's a vandal or not, flaming isn't allowed, and even paraphrasing from Wikitroid is not acceptable. Even more acceptable is not taking the advice given by staff. Perhaps you should tell Thebestmetroidfan that he should still be able to edit his user talk page, or if not that, he can contact me via e-mail through the wiki-function still. I have little more to say. This isn't a matter to sort out. Thebestmetroidfan can return in one week if he wishes to be a more mature editor. I don't have the time or care to go into this further, so I won't be going on chatzy for smart people. Thebesstmetroidfan is a liability to the wiki, not an asset, so I have no interest in pursuing him across the internet.
On a more personal note Kaycato, you may want to identify who you are in relation to Thebestmetroidfan, to clarify your stance.-Melchizedek  talk 02:54, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
I am his friend and i am helping him out that is it Kaycato 02:59, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Come to this chat thebestmetroidfan is waiting Kaycato 03:03, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Well the best way to help him out would be to tell him that he needs to shape up and be more mature if he is truly interested in contributing to Metroid Wiki. So, did you create this account for this sole purpose, without the intention to actually edit and contribute to the project? Because if so, then I don't see reason for your account. Thebestmetroidfan has the means to contact me, and this is his issue, not yours. I won't be going to the chat. BMF has been dealt with according to our policy. It is you now who needs to be organized. BMF can return in a week; there's nothing to discuss. The manner of his return is up to him. -Melchizedek  talk 03:07, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
thebestmetroidfan wants to know how to find the email the user function Kaycato 03:26, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
When on their userpage, look to the sidebar under the 'Toolbox' section. The link he is after is 'E-mail this user'.-Melchizedek  talk 03:54, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
