  • 6th June 2017: Two Metroid games have been announced: a continuation of the Prime series in Metroid Prime 4 for the Switch and a 2D remake of Metroid II in Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS. Prime 4 will be released on an unannounced date in 2018, while Samus Returns is coming September 15 2017.
  • 3rd March 2017: The Nintendo Switch has been released worldwide. No announcements of a Metroid title have been made yet.
  • 6th August 2016: Happy birthday, Metroid! Today marks the 30th anniversary of the original Metroid's release on the Famicom Disk System.
