The space colony that houses the Galactic Research Station

The Galactic Research Station or Ceres Station was a Federation science facility in a space colony located in the Ceres region. When Samus retrieved the last surviving Metroid hatchling from SR388, she took it to Ceres Station, so that the scientists could study its energy producing qualities. The scientists concluded that the powers of the metroid could be harnessed for the good of galactic civilization. Before they could study the metroid further, the station was attacked by Ridley. The distress call to Samus came too late. Upon arrival at the station, she found everyone dead and the metroid in Ridley's possession. After fighting Samus for a brief time, Ridley triggered the station's self destruct sequence and fled, leaving Samus no choice but to retreat. The station self destructed and nothing remains of it now.
