Adam Malkovich is Samus Aran's former commanding officer from her time with the Galactic Federation. He has been mentioned in Metroid Fusion and has a computer named after him, and appeared in the manga, as well as in trailers for Metroid: Other M.

In Metroid Fusion

Spoiler warning:The following contains key plot or intense ending details.

In Metroid Fusion, Adam Malkovich was mentioned by Samus numerous times throughout the game, explaining their relationship in their jobs as well as society. "Adam", a computer named after him, took a starring role as Samus's computerized commanding officer, which Samus at first assumes to be Artificial Intelligence. Adam gave Samus orders on her mission on the B.S.L station. Adam was implemented in the new ship that Samus received after crashing her red Gunship on an asteroid belt after becoming severely ill due to the X Parasite. Malkovich's identity was not definitely known until the final stages of the game.

In the beginning, Malkovich, nothing more than a monitor screen, gave orders as a typical computer would, bluntly with no feeling and absolute desire to reach a completed objective. Despite the fact that Samus did not know that the computer giving her orders was in fact Malkovich himself, Samus felt reminded of her former commanding officer by the computer and named it so. Adam, as Samus recalls, seemed to respect Samus, and even called her "Lady" in a respectful tone.

As the events progressed, Adam began warning Samus to "be careful" and "proceed with caution." This revealed that the supposed cold computer did in fact had human feelings. This is especially apparent in the final scenes where Adam refused to allow Samus to progress for her safety. Samus pleads in frustration for permission to continue and to destroy B.S.L, with herself inside, until Adam finally reveals his true identity and allows Samus to progress. Malkovich continues to exist as Samus's Gunship's computer at the end of Metroid Fusion.

Template:Theory It is revealed also that Adam died trying in an attempt to save Samus. Near the end of Fusion, Malkovich says the following lines referring to himself in the third person (he attempted to keep his identity hidden at this time):

"So, he chose life for you? Our fair warrior, Samus Aran... Your Adam gave his life so that you might keep yours... For the sake of the universe..."

These lines suggest heavily that Adam died protecting or saving Samus.

Other M trailers show Malkovich in Galactic Federation armor, suggesting he will go to front lines, battling dangerous creatures. This, combined with the fact that Adam is dead by the events that ensue in Metroid Fusion, could suggest that Malkovich dies somewhere in Other M. It is unlikely that another game will take place between Other M and Metroid Fusion.
