Chozo Ghosts are spectral entities that haunt areas of spiritual significance on Tallon IV.[1] The corrupting effects of Phazon slowly drove most of the Chozo insane, causing them to attack even Samus.[2] Their ability to phase in and out of the visible spectrum makes the X-Ray Visor an excellent tool for tracking their movements. They are immune to all nature-related beams and weapons except for the Power Beam and the Super Missile.[3]

Chozo Ghosts are found in large amounts of the Chozo Ruins, where Samus first encounters them. When Samus attempts to enter the Impact Crater, Ghosts that have apparently regained their sanity help her enter the crater.

As these entities phase in and out of existence, the only way to track them accurately is with X-ray scanning. Their aggressive and erratic behavior is most likely due to the corruption effects of Phazon in the Tallon IV environment. They appear to be drawn to Chozo shrines or temples, where they wreak havoc upon anything that dares to enter the area. Chozo Ghosts are spectral entities whose partially-phased nature makes them invulnerable to natural energy types, such as fire, ice, and electricity.[5]
