Their training to follow orders led the Ing to seek them out for possession.<ref name="Logbook"/> As with all [[Darkling]]s, they are more resilient and stronger than their prior forms. [[Samus Aran|Samus]] first encounters them in [[Agon Wastes]], and then battles more in [[Dark Agon Wastes]] and the [[Temple Grounds]]. She does not battle Dark Pirate Troopers in [[Sanctuary Fortress]], but she witnesses [[Dark Samus]] killing a small group of them there.
