Glider Riding is a sport mentioned in Metroid Prime in which participants attempt to grapple onto a Glider and remain on it for as long as possible.[1]

Because Gliders have unusual magnetic properties, their blue undersides are vulnerable to common Grapple Beam technology. This biological oddity inspired the sport; Gliders are quite docile, however, even becoming completely motionless once Grappled, suggesting that they provide little challenge to riders. Therefore, though the rules are similar to Earth's sport of Bull riding, the physical challenge appears to lie outside of the animal's reaction.

They have a magnetic signature attuned to common Grapple Beam technology; the sport of 'Glider riding' involves using a Grapple to attach to a Glider, then attempting to stay on it as long as possible." —Metroid Prime Logbook "Glider" (Metroid Prime)
