Hopping Metroids are found in only two locations in the game. One is in the landing area outside Generator B, where they spawn from a large mass. They are later encountered on Phaaze. Hopping Metroids are able to enter Hypermode, making them much stronger. Hopping Metroids are a relatively weak variety of Metroid.
