The Light Beam

The Light Beam is a Luminoth weapon developed for use in the war against the Ing. Samus Aran can recover it from Dark Agon in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Description

The Luminoth began by experimenting with the idea of overloading Dark creatures with the Dark Beam, however this failed so they moved on to developing the Light Beam, which proved to be a far more effective weapon against the Ing. As with the other ammunition beams in Metroid Prime 2, Samus can charge the beam when out of ammo to fire a normal shot. The Light Beam shares similar properties with the Plasma Beam from Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime: 3 Corruption, and uses the same arm cannon shape as the Wave Beam from Metroid Prime and the Nova Beam from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

The Light Beam can activate dimensional rifts on Dark Aether and causes great damage to Dark creatures. It can also open White Doors. It also has the ability to energise Light Crystals and Beacons, expanding their radius and damaging any Ing within.

Sunburst

The Sunburst is the Charge Combo for the Light Beam, it can be acquired from the Grand Windchamber in the Temple Grounds. It creates a slow moving sphere of light, which is effective against the slower Dark Creatues.
