==Morphology==
 
The whole of a standard adolescent Metroid's body is covered by a thick, transparent/translucent, membrane, or shell, (save for it's 4 talon-shaped fangs, two of which it uses to grasp it's prey, while using the other two to leech its energy). Within the shell are three to five spherically shaped organic objects, (presumably the Metroid's organs) rested atop it's fangs, and connected to it's outer membrane via string-like tendons. However, aside from the Metroids' basic adolescent stage, it also is capable of entering four other, more mature stages of life, if of course, the correct environmental prerequisites are met. These stages include the [[Alpha Metroid]], [[Gamma Metroid]], [[Zeta Metroid]], and [[Omega Metroid]].
