In ''[[Metroid Prime (game)|Metroid Prime]]'', the '''Phazon Mines''' is a [[Space Pirate]] mining facility to harvest [[Phazon]] and use it for warfare. The mines are only accessible through the crashed Space Pirate [[Frigate Orpheon|frigate]] in the [[Tallon Overworld]]. In the first several rooms, Phazon covers the rooms' floors. Genetically altered space pirates work there, including pirates that are only vulnerable to one of Samus's beams, and the [[Elite Pirate]]s, which are twice the size of Samus. In her first visit, she aquires the [[Power Bomb|Power Bombs]] and regains her [[Grapple Beam]]. Her next visit, after obtaining the [[X-Ray Visor]] and the [[Plasma Beam]], consists of her going through dangerous [[Metroid (species)|Metroid]] Quarantines, leading up to the [[Omega Pirate]] which grants Samus the [[Phazon Suit]].
