Sonic Security Systems are used extensively by the Luminoth to restrict entry to secure areas or protect valuable items or expansions. The most common type of Sonic Security System is the Echo Key Beam System, though others exist throughout Luminoth strongholds on Aether. Sonic detection gear is needed to interact with these systems, and occasionally equipment with sonic properties are required as well.[1] These systems are easily identified by the telltale sound given off by the emitters usually used in conjunction with these systems.

Properties

Echo Key Beam System

Main article: Echo Key Beam System

Echo Key Beam Systems use Echo Key Beam Emitters and Echo Gates to secure items and equipment. They can be manipulated using the Echo Visor and Annihilator Beam in tandem. Each Gate has a unique sequential lock that can be detected using the Echo Visor, and then the Beam Emitters can be activated using a sonic pulse from the Annihilator Beam in the proper order to unlock the gate.

Other

Sonic security systems have been used in conjunction Solar Lenses, to open specialized sealed doors, and elsewhere, usually in Sanctuary Fortress.

Scan Data

Scan Data from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Echo Key Beam Emitter)

Object scan complete. This is an Echo Key Beam system. Sonic detection gear needed to interface with this system. Shoot the Echo Key Beam emitter with a sonic pulse to activate it. It will then fire a blast of focused sound at an Echo Gate lock.[2]

Scan Data from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Echo Gate)

This Echo Gate uses a sonic security system. Sonic detection gear needed to interface with this system. Shoot the Echo Gate with a sonic pulse to learn the combination of its sonic locks. Unlock the locks in this sequence to advance.[3]

Scan Data from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (Solar Lens)
Located in: Agon Wastes - Mining Plaza

Object scan complete.
Solar lens modified for use as part of a Luminoth sonic security system. Lens is connected to a sonic control system. Sonic detection gear needed to interface with this system. Neutralizing the control emitter may affect the lens.[4]
