'''Wikitroid''' is an online encyclopedic {{wp|wiki}} based on the [[Metroid (series)|''Metroid'' series]]. It was created by a user known as Wikitroid{{fact}}. Upon Wikitroid's thirty second edit, he or she seems to have abandoned the wiki for the community to uphold. ==Metroid Wiki and Wikitroid==
Because of the similar openly editable ''Metroid'' natures of [[Metroid Wiki]] and Wikitroid, the two websites were, early in Metroid Wiki's first year online, rivals. Around two weeks after Metroid Wiki's launch, a Wikitroid administrator suggested merging Metroid Wiki into Wikitroid.<ref>[[User talk:ChozoBoy|Wikitroid administrator ChozoBoy suggesting Metroid Wiki merging with Wikitroid on Metroid Wiki]]</ref> The idea, however, was immediately and firmly turned down as Metroid Wiki was created under the policy to remain an independent website, that is not installed into a {{wp|Wiki hosting cite|wiki farm}}. 

During Metroid Wiki's first month or so, Metroid Wiki articles were copied and pasted directly from Wikitroid by new and uninformed Metroid Wiki users. Because of these users' actions, it became specific Metroid Wiki policy to expel any copied content, Metroid Wiki's contemporary staff spelled out what is and is not allowed in terms to inter-wiki behavior, including copying content.<ref>[[Metroid Wiki:Policy|Metroid Wiki's Inter-wiki policies]]</ref> Upon Metroid Wiki's June 2010 staff reorganization, the new team, along with other inherited responsibilities, made an effort to flesh out any remaining content from other sites such as Wikipedia or Wikitroid. Since then, any copied content has been speedily deleted or replaced. 

Around October 2010, many gaming wikis on Wikia's began moving their content to other wikifarms or independent hosting. Many [[Nintendo]]-based franchise wikis became farm-independent inducted to NIWA, the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance that Metroid Wiki is a part of. During this series of migrations, Wikitroid considered options such as changing wikifarms or becoming independent.<ref>[http://metroid.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Metroid101/Can_Wikitroid_handle_the_new_Wiki%3F Wikitroid considering options to combat Wikia's "Oasis"]</ref> Metroid Wiki's [[User:Nathanial Rumphol-Janc|Nathanial Rumphol-Janc]] offered Wikitroid an opportunity to move off Wikia and merge with Metroid Wiki. Wikitroid, like Metroid Wiki earlier, firmly denied a merge of the two wikis and remained on Wikia where it continues to reside and grown accustomed to the small changes in Wikia's policy.

Most tensions surrounding both wikis have long since died out to the point where they have become healthy rivals. Since the release of ''[[Metroid: Other M]]'', Wikitroid's article count's growth rate grew significantly.
