Yoshio Sakamoto was born in July 23, 1959. He is a video game designer that works for Nintendo, and is the mastermind behind Metroid.

Sakamoto is a video game designer and the co-creator of the [[Metroid series]]. He worked as a director on the first [[Metroid (game)|Metroid]] and later directed [[Super Metroid]], [[Metroid Fusion]], [[Metroid: Zero Mission]] and [[Metroid: Other M]]. He also supervised the creation of the [[Prime series]], developed by [[Retro Studios]].
His work starts in 1982, when he entered Nintendo, and Shigeru Miyamoto assigned him to work for a Donkey Kong Jr. game, then he designed Kid Icarus, and after, he directed the original Metroid.
 
He has also directed [[Super Metroid]], [[Metroid Fusion]], and [[Metroid: Zero Mission]]; and supervised the Prime series developed by Retro Studios.
