The Space Jump Boots are an upgrade exclusive to the Metroid Prime series that gives Samus the ability to jump a second time while in the air, greatly increasing the distance she can travel. The effect is similar to that of the Space Jump, though it can only be used to perform a single additional jump while the Space Jump gives Samus to ability to perpetually jump. The Space Jump Boots have no effect when in the air due to walking off a ledge; they can be used only after jumping off the ground.
The Space Jump Boots are an upgrade for Samus's Jump Boots, allowing her to do a second jump in the air, just like a double jump. This ability is only available in the 3D games, replacing the Hi-Jump Boots of the 2D ones. The classic Space Jump did not exist in 3D until Metroid: Other M.

The Space Jump Boots were introduced in Metroid Prime, found in the Alcove of Tallon Overworld. They returned in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, where they stolen by a Warrior Ing then later recovered after Samus defeats the Jump Guardian in Dark Agon Wastes. In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Samus is in possession of the boots and maintains her ownership throughout the game.
This upgrade was first featured in Metroid Prime, in Tallon Overworld.

In the original Super Smash Bros., which was released more than three years prior to Metroid Prime, Samus is capable of jumping in a fashion identical to the jump done by the Space Jump Boots.

Trivia
*The earlier acquisition of the Space Jump Boots is a common Sequence Break in Metroid Prime, with the room where the boots are located being a one room away from the Landing Site, the first room Samus visits on Tallon IV.
