Hello, I know you are looking for more staff... so, considering how I have no idea how else to put this, would you look into promoting me? I do have an email/msn (mkwiiturboo@hotmail.com) if you want to know more about me and my motives. I apologize if this comes off as power-seeking, and I understand if I am not promoted. ::Capn's trolling aside, the point of google is to help the user find what they are looking for. It doesn't necessarily matter if you are indeed the "best" source for something, it matters that the user does, indeed, find what they are looking for. Example: We have a walkthrough for Spirit Tracks. It is by far not the best walkthrough, but it is highly unique in it's nature and was the first one in existence. Should we not strive for top rankings because there are better ones out there? The information still works and gets the job done. Were not lying to anyone, were getting our content out there to those that use google. If you can't grasp that, I feel sorry for you. ==Re: Welcome==
Thank you for your message. I created an account because two minor things on two pages caught my attention, and I wanted to fix them. I haven't played a single installment of the Metroid series, so I fear that my edits here will be very scarce. I will however try to fix anything formatting related I coincidentally come across. I hope you guys will succeed with your project. - Edofenrir 23:37, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Re: Welcome
Thanks, I will be. I'm trying to create at least ten articles a day.
Metroid Wiki needs Users
Since you handle publicity, is there anything at all you can do to increase our user numbers? We are in need of people, this wiki is still young but I think we need more editors. I'm hoping Other M puts up enough hype with fans to influx the number of accounts. But Other M is a long ways from now. Where is Metroid Wiki advertised anyways? :I think it's safe to say that it'll be joining Zelda and Wikirby in the NIWA. - 22:14, 24 May 2010 (PCS)
:This site has been primarily advertised at Zelda Informer - in fact that is where a majority of the hit base comes from. We get about 400 hits a day and ZI is a big reason for that. It has also been advertised by Zelda Wiki, Bulbapedia, and WiKirby. Unfortunately, Super Mario Wiki has yet to advertise us, but I am confident one day they will. GoNintendo also advertised us close to our launch date, though ideally getting advertised now when we actually have some content would of been better.
:I agree that we need more editors, even still, but the metroid community is rather small on the net. We have been supported by one metroid fan site, and the biggest one (metroid database) is full of Wikitroid supporters. == Request for MetroidWikiChat ==
Hello, I am a big fan of the METROID series, from the original METROID on the NES to [METROID] 'Other M'. I do not know if you already have an IRC chat client dedicated to METROID, but I would like to propose one. I think having a chat would promote the community, users could speak to you, or other higher-ups directly, and ask questions about where they are in the game at that moment instead of waiting for a response over days.
If you are interested, I've already regged the channel #MetroidWikiChat so if you go here:
http://chat.mibbit.com/#MetroidWikiChat
I'll be there as the owner, you, and all the other Administrators, or Moderators would immediately obtain Admin status in the chat, second only to the owner. I hope you consider this as an opportunity to answer any questions that new players would need answered on the spot. It's also a good way for anyone to get to know each other on a personal level. If you decide to accept this, then just enter the chat, I'll be there and we can talk about it there.
~KaiZer
:We already do have a way for users to chat with other users and staff (see our Skype page), so not really sure if we need an IRC. You'll have to wait until the next time Nate gets on for the final say. 21:07, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
::Oh, I see. I just feel that to have users download Skype is asking a bit too much, don't you? With an IRC client like this, all people have to do is click on the link, then there you go, you're in the chat. No dowloading, no waiting, and Skype can prove troublesome, when so many people are there, it can get confusing. In my honest opinion, an IRC chat client would prove much more efficient. but I will keep tabs on this page and see what you guys think about it. Thanks for responding! :)            ~KaiZer
:::The thing with IRC is that it requires java, and no, not everyone actually has java. Outside of that requirement (which is in reference to needing to download skype), IRC is clunky as it is and is best  used with a external program (xchat, mirc, etc). While IRC has it's benefits (I still use it for some things), the benefits of skype far outweigh those of IRC, primarily due to logging the chat while your offline. This allows the users to catch up ont he current conversation very easily.
::: I do appreciate the ambition though. It is possible we could offer both solutions, but it's doubtful both stay active. We do need more editors, so I am open to anything that could cause us to gain members. Nathanial Rumphol-Janc 14:28, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
