While on the Pirate Homeworld, Samus learns that the hunters had been completely consumed by Phazon and were under the dominion of Dark Samus, accounting for their attacks on Samus. The news they bring to Samus is that there is [[Phaaze|a planet that is the source of all Phazon]] that is the source of the attacks from Leviathans impacting distant planets. Also, a stolen and extracted [[Aurora Unit 313|Aurora Unit]] from the [[GFS Valhalla]] is embedded deep within the planet to aid Dark Samus in spreading the Phazon to bring bioforms under their control. Samus is dispatched to the location while the Federation battles a Space Pirate fleet.
