Bomb Slots are devices that appear throughout the Metroid Prime series. These devices are used to activate various devices throughout the planets that Samus explores. To activate a Bomb Slot, Samus must go into the slot while in the Morph Ball, and then lay a Morph Ball Bomb. Depending on the function of the Bomb Slot, they may or may not be usable after their initial usage. Samus generally cannot escape a Bomb Slot once she has been pulled into one until she bombs it. These devices are known to be used by the Chozo, Luminoth, Galactic Federation, and Space Pirates. It was most likely Chozo Technology that was spread around to the Federation and Luminoth, but most likely stolen or mimicked by the Space Pirates.

Bomb Slots are powered system-control units. To use, insert the Morph Ball into the slot and detonate a Bomb. This will transfer energy from the slot to the device connected to it.
