Exeter was one of the last of the Galactic Federation Marines on Aether to fall in battle in a failed attempt to purge an attack launched by a large horde of Ing. Exeter's last transmission was recovered by [[Samus Aran]]. The transmission was created in the form of a digital journal entry, which recorded the fated crash landing on Aether. The transmission was programmed to be viewable by anyone that came across it to warn the viewer of the dangers of Aether.

Captain A. Exeter was the commanding officer of the Bravo squad of GFMC Task Force Herakles that engaged the Ing when the G.F.S. Tyr made an emergency landing on Aether. Captain Exeter recorded a final report detailing the events leading to the death of the crew, including their engagement with a Space Pirate frigate, their struggle to repair their vessel, and their encounters with the Ing, just before his own demise following an attack by possessed Splinters.[1] Samus Aran recovers this message from a terminal in the GFMC Compound shortly after arriving on Aether.

His seat aboard the G.F.S. Tyr was in the cockpit directly behind the ship's pilot, Commander K. Sterling.

I'm beginning to think it was a real bad idea going down there. Reevs is right, that hive is just one of many. It's stupid to stir a hornet's nest, especially if you plan on sleeping under it.[2]
