The Etecoons are creatures extending the idea of "space monkeys." They appear in Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. In Super Metroid, there are three of them in a lower area of Brinstar. They force Samus to learn the Wall Jump technique to escape. During the escape sequence at the end of the game, Samus can choose to go to the room where she fought the Torizo, and allow the Etecoons and the Dachora to escape the planet. Later, Samus encounters them again on the BSL station. They help Adam save the gunship from the Omega Metroid.
