|notes=Many of the combinations will cause the game to freeze, but what might give better effects to to charge up a shot and then change beams. Combinations known to work are all on and all but wave beam on. Having every beam on when you already have a shot charged will create a ball of damaging energy in front of you.  The all but wave beam combination will cause you to eternally fall through floors in most rooms, but if you manage to escape a room in this state, it is possible in some rooms, saving anywhere will result in everything being reset in you file except for your powerups. This allows you to fight some early bosses with powerful weapons.

These are the glitches which are possible to perform in Super Metroid. Please read the Glitch Disclaimer Notes before attempting any of the glitches on this page.

Main Glitches

Blue Suit

A demonstration
  • Effect: Gives you a neverending Shinespark charge, which can also be used to harm enemies on contact.
  • Prerequisites: Be at the battle with Draygon.
  • How to: Weaken Draygon untill close to death. Then, be hit by one of Draygon's sticky blobs, and use the slowdown to activate the Speed Booster. Charge a Shinespark with it, and deal the final blow to Draygon with it. If done correctly, your suit will be blue, and is good for one Shinespark wherever you want, or can kill most enemies on contact.
  • Notes: This is very difficult and is not easy at all. It is unknown as of yet whether the effect can be taken in a elevator without losing it.

Strange Beams

A player using the all but wave beam combination to reset their file. It may be hard to see in the video, but he fires the beam once.
  • Effect: Allows the use of strange beams
  • Prerequisites: Have all beams and at least one boot upgrade
  • How to: Activate all beams but the plasma beam. Put the cursor on your boot upgrade and push left and whatever button you have for selecting weapons. If done correctly, all of your beams will be active and there will be a VAR next to the plasma beam. Deactivate individual beams for different effects.
  • Notes: Many of the combinations will cause the game to freeze, but what might give better effects to to charge up a shot and then change beams. Combinations known to work are all on and all but wave beam on. Having every beam on when you already have a shot charged will create a ball of damaging energy in front of you.
