After the events of Metroid Zero Mission/Metroid, Ridley was revived as Meta Ridley. The Space Pirates resuscitated his mortally damaged body, enhancing him with mechanical infusions and an array of weapons systems, including a missle system, plasma cannon, and plasma bombs. Meta Ridley was then to go to the Frigate Orpheon to finish repairs, at least, until disaster struck.
Meta Ridley is a cybernetic transformation of the dragon-like creature geoform 187, code-named Ridley. After the events of Metroid, Ridley was revived as a mechanical counterpart, Meta Ridley.

After Ridley's defeat at the hands of Samus Aran on the planet Zebes, the Space Pirates resuscitated him and began reconstruction on his mortally damaged body on Frigate Orpheon, enhancing him with metagenetic and cybernetic improvements and an array of weapons systems, including a Multi-Missile System, a Kinetic Breath Weapon, an Ultrathermal Flamestrike Projector, and a Meson Bomb Launcher. These supplements resulted in a drastic increase in strength, mobility, and offensive capability, making him a perfect candidate for the pride of the Space Pirate security force.

Meta Ridley was completing his final upgrades in the Frigate Orpheon when the 2 out of 3 Parasite Queens busted out of their containment module's and began to ravage the Frigate Orpheon apart. One of the Parasite Queens went into the evacuation room and the Space Pirate's were able to destroy it. The second one went to the Reactor core of the ship. Samus Aran came because of a distress beacon and killed the final Parasite Queen and then met Meta Ridley at last. Meta Ridley finally was able to escape the Frigate Orpheon, and Samus followed...

Meta Ridley was on-board the Space Pirate Frigate Orpheon when the mutated Parasite Queens being experimented upon there broke free and began wreaking havoc, and briefly encountered Samus Aran before escaping the deteriorating Frigate and heading for Tallon IV. Samus follows Meta Ridley but does not encounter him again until she is exploring the Phendrana Drifts, where his shadow is seen as he flies overhead in the direction of the Phazon Mines.

Meta Ridley in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
After Samus obtains all 12 Chozo Artifacts and is about to enter the Impact Crater, Meta Ridley confronts her in the Artifact Temple and a battle ensues. Initially, Meta Ridley attacks Samus from the air with his long-range arsenal, destroying the Chozo totems in the process. After incurring sufficient damage, however, his wings disintegrate and he engages her in melee combat on the ground.

Meta Ridley was revived after that fall and was re-equiped with the same systems and given Phazite Armor. Meta Ridley was seen attacking Norion and was first seen attacking a platoon of Galactic Federation Marines. Next Samus had to face him while in Morph Ball and used bombs to shake him off. Then she had to go to Generator C where Meta Riley attacked. They engaged in an epic free fall battle. Samus defeated him and he fell to his death but was revived as Omega Ridley.
Samus defeats Meta Ridley, and he is assumed dead after a direct hit by a laser beams emitted from the statues adorning the Artifact Temple and a fall off a cliff into the Impact Crater.

Meta Ridley was revived after that fall, re-equipped with the same systems, and given Phazite Armor before he appears again. Samus witnesses Meta Ridley attacking Norion and was first seen attacking a platoon of Galactic Federation Marines.

Samus has to face him while in traveling through confining spaces in Morph Ball form and use Bombs to shake him off while evading his attacks.

Afterwards, she manages to get to Generator C, where Meta Ridley attacks again. He lunges at her from above and forces them both through the floor into an extremely long shaft beneath the generator. They engage in battle while in a state of free-fall, and Samus manages to emerge victorious before they impact the base of the shaft. Meta Ridley is presumed destroyed, but he is revived again as Omega Ridley.

Meta Ridley is a boss in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He can be fought, like all other bosses of that game, in the Subspace Emissary and in Boss Battles mode. In the Subspace Emissary, Meta Ridley attacks Samus as she and company are escaping on Captain Falcon's Falcon Flyer. He attacks by swooping, knocking the Flyer off-screen, and by breathing a variety of fiery projectiles.
