Metroid Prime: Federation Force is an upcoming Metroid game scheduled to be released in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS. Unlike most Metroid games, it is a spinoff and focuses primarily on a team of Galactic Federation Marines.

Plot

Very little has been disclosed about the plot, sans for the fact that it takes place across three planets and involves the Metroids, Samus Aran, a team of Federation Marines, and taking place between the events of Metroid II: Return of Samus and Super Metroid.

Gameplay

The game consists of three modes: An unnamed singeplayer mode and two multiplayer modes: Federation Force and Blast Ball.

Reception

Upon its reveal at E3 2015, it caused fan outcry, due to the five-year wait since Metroid: Other M, as fans assumed the game lacked any form of singeplayer mode, Metroids, or Samus. This was proven false by the producer, Kensuke Tanabe. When the game was first revealed, a petition began on Change.org. Within 24 hours, it had 7,500 signatures.
