- February 9, 2022: Nintendo has announced two free updates for Metroid Dread. The first one, releasing on February 9, 2022, will add Dread Mode and Rookie Mode, and the second one, releasing in April 2022, will add a Boss Rush mode.
- December 9, 2021: Metroid Dread has won the award for Best Action/Adventure Game at The Game Awards.
- June 15, 2021: Nintendo has announced Metroid Dread, a new 2D entry in the Metroid series, set to be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021.
- September 4, 2019: Nintendo has announced that 20 Super Nintendo Entertainment System games, including Super Metroid, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch via Nintendo Switch Online.
- January 25, 2019: Nintendo has released a development update for Metroid Prime 4, announcing that the game has restarted development under Retro Studios.
