Puffers are aggressive hunters filled with Meta-viprium, a lethal gas, which they use to float about in search of food. Their bodies are fragile and will rupture upon contact. If ruptured, the gas within them will violently release, completely killing the Puffer and any fatally poisoning any creature that attacks.<ref name="Logbook" />

Puffers are native to the Pirate Homeworld, though [[Space Pirates]] have cybergenetically modified them into patrol animals filled with [[Phazon|Phazon Gas]] called [[Puffer Mine]]s.<ref>{{cite|Avoid contact with the Puffer Mine.
