The Speed Booster is an ability allowing Samus to run with an increased speed. Once Speed Boosting, Samus can destroy any most common enemies by running into them. It can destroy special blocks, and must be used such to progress.
There is also a secret technique introduced in Super Metroid, shown by the Dachora, called the Shinespark. It has been in every 2D Metroid game since that. In Metroid: Zero Mission as well as Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, there are some things that can charge the speed while Samus is in Morph Ball mode. The Speed Booster will make its first 3D appearance in Metroid: Other M.
